Overkillz Dune Truggy Build

but we will want to see something like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDAZjqvDjBE

That happened right at silver lake, and that truck was detroyed if you saw the longer video, might have already been destroyed though.

Adam, what do you have for rear tires? Any paddles you can try?

The rain usually makes the sand heavy and easier to get around in.

Im guessing the vid is of the red chevy that he trashed? I was there that day :D (cant see vids on my phone) and we are trying to find some paddles around tgat will fit. This would most likely not go to the dunes tomorrow if we go. Too many little things to get done. Need at least a roll bar to tie the harnesses to, need to mount the radiator to something, make battery box, wire the ignition and all that so we can stop touching wires to start it.... Run the longtubes to mufflers and turbdowns, check tge rear dif. Im sure theres more. Ill get on alot of that this weekend. But we do have a jump we made in the back field...

edit: this was in response to the red truck vid posted last page. didn't look to see another page of posts....

Not this? :haha:

So we got the longtubes installed and she wants to run real bad... But i think the b2 fuel pump is too much pressure even with the regulator, or the mr gasket adjustable regulator is junk. The pumps rated for like 70-90psi.. But i thought the reg would do the job of makin it work... It just burnt up the pump though. You can feel the rubber line before the reg and its really hard, and after its soft. Im thinkin too much pressure being built up against the reg as we had to turn it way down so fuel wasnt leaking by the seals without throttle open.... Return line needed before reg? Or find a lower pressure pump?

Does it have a fuel return?
Nope. Thats why i asked if a return line would let it work or not.

What the heck are you doing with a pump that puts out so Much pressure. Yes you need a smaller pump

Cuz we have like 3 of em laying around lol. The one is brand spanky new...

heck man, doesnt mean its right.

put the same one on that you did your blazer.

Id love to put a mechanical pump on it. But its a tbi motor so i dont think it has the extra cam lobe. IVe got a brand new spare pump in the back of my blazer too. :doah:

It looks the same as it did in the last pics but with longtubes lol. Didnt even take any pics lol

Then make some noticeable progress! Just in case you werent noticing, my k5 hasnt moved from its spot in over two weeks because ive been so busy!

You can make it work but you need a regulator that will allow the correct pressure and a return line. I think the cheapest regulator that will do the job is one of the mallory units that regulate up to 25 psi, like this one...

GM TBI is under 25 psi right? I thought it was around 15-18?

You have to have a return line aka bypass regulator. Electric pumps do not like to be dead headed!

My Holley blue and black are happy with no return. Your tbi 350 has a fuel pump lobe. It may not have the pushrod hole drilled.

You are correct, but Holley vane pumps are a different design, they will work with no return. A high pressure efi pump, especially run at lower pressures, usually needs a return, unless you PWM the pump. Also, if the return isn't large enough you may not even be able to get the pressure down far enough because the return line is more of a restriction than the regulator.

Either get a different pump, or get the correct regulator.
