Phil's '88 Big Blue Build Thread

Nah, 4:10s is plenty with my 35's. About 2500 rpm at 65, I wouldn't want it higher than that, I drive on the freeway a lot. Right now its about 2150 or so with the 3:42s, which is actually nice if freeway was all I did. lol.

The 14 bolt has 4:10s anyway, part of the attraction is only having to regear 1 axle.

And as for the front, like I said, there is no way this is happening before BB. So, I either go open front and rear, or put it in the front. I'm certainly not going with 4:10 in the front and 3:42 in the rear.
Very pleased with the 4.10-35" combo. Got 18 mpg on the highway last week

You are running a 241 case as well, plenty of gear off road

OMG. I went off-roading with the heep club today. I'll get some pics and video later.

WORST TRUCKER TAN EVER. My left and right arms look like they are from different people.
Hahahaha!

Definitely easier to regear one axle than to do both. But now is the time to regear if you'll ever want to.

I'm not pushing you toward deeper gears, I'm just about the only one on here who thinks that 3.08s and O/D are a good combination. :deal: I like a truck that's nice on the highway.

Every rig is a compromise, it sounds like you'll be just fine with 4.10 gears.

If you want to compare with other rigs, your 4.10:1 axle, 2.72:1 transfer case, and 6.55:1 first gear yields a 73:1 combined crawl ratio.

I did some pretty chitty trails on 60:1 with 37s. I did want more gear on a few trails.

Would never do those trails again expecting to not trailer it though. You get to that point, everything is different anyway.

Is that good? hahahaha. All I know is, even now with way too tall gears, when I'm in low gear, and low range, it's seriously low.
