Thank you it was my first moose or any big game, I been trying for years to get a moose (originally from Bethel) since I was 11 and finally got one now at 16 I got it around Healy off Stampede trail on the first night of my hunt:eek1: . And boy it was good eating for sure, I wonder why it is all gone now? lol...

You'll remember the first one for the rest of your life. Respect the animals and the land, and I hope that you have many successful hunts in your future.

Once again, you lucky sumbitch! What's Grizzly taste like?

If they're eating berries they aren't too bad, if they are eating fish or meat they are rank. We shoot grizzlies because there are too many of them in the area where we hunt and they kill a lot of moose and caribou calves. Game laws require that you salvage the skull and the hide but not the meat.

Here's a pic for today.

When my wife and I go hunting we usually go out for 3-4 weeks, our camp is close to 100 trail miles from the trailhead. We take 2 days of traveling to get to our camp if we don't have mechanical problems or take too much time fishing along the way. During most hunts we take someone with us but we have gone out by ourselves on several occasions. About 14 years ago I took a 73 year old gentleman, who had lived in upstate New York until his wife died, out to shoot his first moose. Butch is a tough old buzzard and was always the first one up in the morning to get a fire going in the barrel stove and get the coffee started. Here's a picture of Butch and his very first moose.

Heck Gus, that's not to hard to do when you don't get out of the rack until noon!:doah:

I've been on CK5 for two years and just noticed this board. :doah: Anyways, here's some pics from '04. Haven't had as much luck since, plus had another baby.

This is my 56" (minus the head, since I shot it off :D ) diamondback rattler. I got it while quail hunting in the desert.
