Pics of my Dana 60 14BFF Install

If you bought a brand new lawn mower, would you take that apart and make it perfect too?

You are going to have the world's coolest Suburban when you are done

That sure is one nice build you got going on there. I Live just down the road from you in Brentwood. I am originally from North Alabama in Florence as well. What part of AL were you in...other than Auburn?

Im fighting main bearings now. The front one has .0027 clearance. The rest go all the way up to .0035. I am looking for .0025 to .0027.

Brentwood, some nice folks there. The game us a parade to march in when we got back from Iraq.

Looks good bro. Cant wait to see you get this thing done. I got buys working on my K5 again this weekend. Maybe a few more weekends of this nice weather and I can have it going.

There are some people here like that. A lot of them are just snooty and think the world is beneath them because they have money.

Well they are the city that adopted my BN and didn't have much issues sending a ton of stuff to my Soldiers while we were deoployed.

Im trying to make some headway with the weather myself. Im gonna have to fire up these 1100 quadrotors if its sunny this weekend. I may have to go lay the smack down on someone on the lake.:D

Thanks man!! It's ALOT OF FREAKIN WORK! BUT, very rewarding...to me anyway.

I just wish I could ride in it, to see how badass it is when done.

Ok....here is tonight's update. I got all the rods done. I got all of them at .0025 thousands on the money. I moved the dial bore gauge off center when I took the pic....thats why it shows .0026 in the picture. They are ready to get washed and then put the pistons on and the rings on the pistons.

I ran into A HUGE FUGGIN PROBLEM at 1am this morning. I was putting the cam bearings in and I was having to BEAT THE HOLY H E L L out of them to get them in. I finally got them all in and I was breaking my arm patting myself on the back about what a good job I did since all my oil holes lined up dead center. The guy who taught me how to build motors taught me to always test fit the cam once you have the bearings in BEFORE you put the crank in. Every now and then you will have a bearing that doesnt fit right. I have always thought this was overkill but did it anyway. I lube up my new 007 top secret spy chit camshaft that I had made and the GD thing wont go in the first hole. Not even close. I am standing there.....looking like a tard with the camshaft and it isn't even close....I could not fathom what in the holy hell had happened. I felt like I was on candid camera or something. The hole was .045 smaller than the camshaft journal. I am paniking....running around measuring everything about to throw up in my mouth. I am so tired....I can't even come up with a maybe solution as to what I could have done to have done this. I thought Comp made the cam wrong.....I grabbed the ZZ572 cam...it won't go in either.....wtf?? It came out of there??? Said FUG IT and went to bed. Got on the phone this morning and found out that GM uses a different cam bearing in this morphodite than any other GM Big Block on the planet. So I get them (they r 3 times the cost of regular cam bearings) and install them tonight. Put the cam in for a test fit.....and I almost busted a nut....it was like butta......110 percent! So....I am back on track to let the insanity of why I took this thing apart to begin with continue. So, tomorrow after work, I am washing the block and crank again and the crank is going in the block. Wed night is piston in the hole night and hopefully thursday night is degreeing the camshaft. Stay tuned for more as the 572 turns......:D

Well at least it was an easy fix and not something crazy wrong with it! At the rate you are going you will have this thing running in a week.

Thats cool and I understand that being an ex soldier myself. It feels good to have people do that for you.
