Pics of my Dana 60 14BFF Install

nice..

of all the stuff you have, the boats, the floor, the 50, etc, I think I want your bolt storage the most! :haha:

hope monday goes well.....

I imagine the dipstick thing sucked! Its not fun to do in a stock truck with a 350! Fun times... Of coarse that also means crawling up top and down below several several times to get it done and that wears a body out quick! I just realllly hope your wife gets some sort of relief at the mayo clinic! So, Good luck with that! And good luck with the truck stuff tomorrow also.

Glad to see you have gotten to work on the truck some. Prayin for you and your wife and that she gets some relief. Good luck!

Looks real good, more nice work. Hope you can get your wife some good news this week, thoughts and prays are with ya'll.

Hey brother! Good to see you back at the keys. I think it's safe to say a few of us were worried about you and your lady. I'm not the praying type and I don't believe in luck that you don't make yourself. I am hoping for some good news for you guys on Monday. Hopefully it takes a good turn for ya'll and you and the wife can get in some good family time this summer.

Be safe brother!

The bolt bins were/are one of the best investments I have ever made. I have grade 8 standard, stainless standard in both hex head and allen head and I have metric in 10.9. Its all barcoded. When I start running low, I call my Fastnal rep, he swings by and scans the bins that need restocking and he swings by the next week with all the new stuff. Same way with all my electrical supplies. If you do alot of projects, it will not take long to pay for itself. Especially if you use much stainless. Go buy a 1/2" 4" long stainless bolt at lowes. They are about $6 each. Between the cost savings and being able to just reach over and get what you need is invaluable. Plus you end up with a much better finished project.

Again, I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate the thoughts and prayers.

Here is what I rigged up this morning for transport to Jacksonville Fla. I took the back seats out of the H2 and put in 3 eggshells and 2 sleeping bags for padding. There is a flipdown in the roof and I got all the current movies that are out for the trip. It has factory nav with a hospital button on it. So if anything happens on the way down, I shouldn't be more than 30+ minutes from a hospital somewhere. We are scheduled for a week but they told us to plan for 2 weeks just in case. They even have a Courtyard by Marriott on the Mayo Medical Campus.

Mayo is an great place (maybe the best in the world as far as knowledge and care) in my opinion, and I speak from experience. Good Luck.

Man, thats great to hear.

I got my hood on and mocked up where I need to cut it to make it a true cowl induction. The silver line above the air cleaner is my cut line. Hopefully, I can get my buddy to come over tomorrow and help me take it off so I can cut it to fit before we leave.

All the progress looks good man, it's going to be a fun ride!

And I wish you the best with your wife. I really hope they find a cure for her at Mayo, you're both in my thoughts.

Ok guys....I'm back! We made the trip to Mayo and back uneventfull. We have some information back but not all of it. So far, we have more good information than bad which I am thankfull of.

Here is where I am on the Burb, I got the hood cut out....fitted, and installed with all the hardware and the gaps are actually fitted.

When you look through the hood, all you see is breather inside the cowl through the vent. I couldnt get a good pic that shows it....but it looks mean as hell! And it all cleared!

I also got all the tank stripped, painted, pickups installed and all the vents worked out. I machined the inner part of the tank fill out like the old school units used to be. Since I modified the old vent as the pickup (it was 5/8"id which is exactly the same as #10), I had to open up the filler neck or you would have gas spitting back at you in the face while you were trying to fill it up. I also got the tank installed with all new lines on everthing. The pics of the line laying in the frame is not permanent. I have to get all my clamps attached and drilled and then the hose cut to length and plumbed. I am going to do the fuel / engine oil cooler and tranny oil cooler all at the same time so that I dont end up drilling more holes than I have too. I will be able to use some frame holes that I drill to attach more than one clamp too.

How did you know where to mark for center of the air cleaner to make the cut?

I have decided to mount the self contained tranny and engine oil coolers on the outside of the frame rails up under the passenger and drivers side doors. They will have protective screens that I have not fabbed yet.

The 1/4" aluminum angle that will bolt to the outside of the frame rail on the outboard side of the frame (away from exhaust and all engine heat sources and they will not take any flow away from the AC and Engine cooling). The have there own fans and thermostats so they dont have to be directly in the airflow going down the road.

I welded a 1/4" aluminum plate to the angle and milled out the center to the exact dimensions of the cooler surface area. I will get some more pictures after I get my holes drilled and paint them in the morning and then I will install them and post some pics of the final product.

Excellent Question K30. I do not have the radiator or condensor in yet for exactly that reason. I finally got a buddy to come over and help me hang it. We eased it down, and I put my head through the front of the truck with a light and a silver sharpie. I made an outline aroung the front half of the air cleaner. Removed the hood, took the air cleaner off and put it on the hood and traced the rest of it out. We studied how the hood moved as it closed the last 6 inches and then allowed for body / frame flex and taped it off larger than the size of the actual air cleaner line. The back was really tight. I cut if off with an air powered body saw. We nailed it first shot. (that never happens for me) :) Even though I changed to all poly engine and transfer case mounts and I going to put a limit strap on the motor so it cant torque, you know how much these bodies can flex relative to the frame when you get it all twisted up. Here are a few pics of us setting it up to mark where to cut out.

Here are the coolers mounted to the mounts. I just need to get the frame and the angle side drilled and I am ready for paint!

I'm glad you're getting more info on what will make your wife feel better. Every time you drop out I think "I hope his wife is all right."
The 'Burb is sick, I like it. Good job!
