PLEASE LOOK!!!! TV Cable is Set! but need help still with idle in D AND R

My tb spacer came with the spacers to adjust the bracket. I wasent able to reset the TV cable however. My 700r chit the bed about a month and a half later. I got a new aftermarket cable from the shop that did my rebuild and it has a ton of slack to get it set up correctly. If you need a new cable anyways spend the 50 bucks and get one of these. The tranny shop set everything and made sure all was well and it locked up properly before they let me take my truck.

I will see if I can find the reciept for tha part number.

so with the new cable can they just adjust it to make it the way it should be or do i still have to put spacers in?

mine came with the kit and I installed them when I had everything apart installing the tb spacer.

Alot of the guys on here posted up some good suggestions to making your own. Shouldnt be to hard to make something up.

you wouldn`t happen to have part numbers?

i'll try one more time Mike.... :haha:

if you want to just rig it, you could just stack a bunch of flat washers under the bracket to jack it up 3/4" to 1"..

pull the 2 intake bolts that hold the bracket down, find 2 bolts an inch longer or so and appropriate washers...

cutting down some pipe, or better yet, the alternator spacers i already suggested are another option..

the shop may or may not get it to work without them but it wont be right and more than likely will be putting your new cable under stress, causing premature failure.. puts it at a real funky angle..

plus, your asking them to work on something not stock with the TB spacer in there and they may not know the proper fix...

i would space the bracket up prior to them doing the cable... also adjusting them is simple, if ya need a link, we can provide...

hey guys sorry if i`m asking all these questions...its just that all this stuff has happened at once on me here and im still learnin so i`m kinda trying to get it done since its my dd...so i can use washers....how can i use an alternator spacer...dont know what it looks like....and i think i know what you mean with the pipe...

if the truck seems fine after i do this should i still get the cable replaced??

your simplest bet would be the washer trick.. like i said, pull the bolts, get longer, and get a stack of flat washers for that size bolt..

wheres the truck? at home or the shop?

we can walk you thru this... i'm betting you don't need a cable and could readjust it with the proper geometry.. have you looked thru links on adjusting the cable?

I will look at mine when I get home. On my 95 I was able to lift the throttle/tv cable bracket with longer bolts and some spacers to correct the geometry. I think you could do the same for you 90. I just got bolts 1" longer and cut some pipe spacers 1".

what do pipe spacer look like?

just one more thing...how much do i have to lift it to completely correct the geometry

well, iirc they are an inch, cuz the tb spacer is an inch usually... might be a little less.... as long as you jack it up something in that neighborhood you should be fine and have a decent geometry.....

push comes to shove, i'll pull my air cleaner and get some better pics for ya...

could you please because i have to do it before it put it in the shop tomorrow

TIA

ok, here ya go.. best i could get... haha, man my stuff is dirty.. anyway, heres one of the back bolt of the bracket with one of the spacers.. now that i'm looking at em, think they're more in the 3/4" range...

and heres one giving ya a look at the cable angle...

hey thanks a bunch bro...i havent really looked at mine enough yet but is that the only bolt holding the bracket on???and what did u use for the spacer?

no, theres 2 bolts, thats the rear...

those are spacers that came with my tb spacer... but like i said, flat washers for that size bolt are going to be easiest.. just stack em up under the bracket.. pull the bracket, take the 2 bolts down to the hardware store, get em 3/4" or an inch longer and ge the corresponding flat washers.. prolly 3/8's flat washers and just stack em up under there..

reinstall the cable.. depress the D button on the adjustment part of the tv, and pull the sheath of the cable from behind the bracket towards the firewall. release the D button, then just give it WOT and you should hear it make a couple clicks into place...

thats the problem i`m also having because i cannot get it to dissengage so i have to get a new cable put in tomorrow...so i just put the spacers in then just have them put in the new cable and set it properly?

also can i use a piece of pipe...just cut it to the right length then put the bolt through?

yeah, space that bracket up before ya give it to them... should make it simple for them...

are ya towing it? don't drive it with that cable fubared...
