Poorboy's 91 Build... B52's 56's FUSH, SYE

Got the call, TNA crossmember is done at powder coat. Just need to find the time to pick it up!

Awesome build not sure how I've missed this one. Hopefully ill be done by the beginning of the summer and can meet up with some of you guys :D . Ive been looking to find a 241 do you have any that your willing to part with

This build is easy to miss... it hardly gets to the top. I do have some 241's! do you need mechanical speedo or electric?

so the short of my update progress....

Brad told me about the run that MR.K5 was coming down for. Decided that hauling a$$, under a lot of pressure would be the only way I would even get close to having it mobile or any chance of ever wheeling it again... I didn't get a lot of pics due to time constraints..

so it started.. The 10 day countdown! It was on jack stands in my shop with no motor, trans , t-case, springs, steering, axles, wheels or tires.. basically nothing there. I did a few things at my shop. I hand tightened the FUSH brackets, B52's, spring bolts etc.. Got it on the ground and able to roll out.

Here it is loaded on the trailer. Brought it to a Friends shop to get some of the basics done. Figured having access to a lift and being in the way would keep me motivated. Install TNA crossmember, tighten all suspension components, install engine, trans, t case. Went with the GM performace parts 330HP vortec headed small block for now. Has the GMPP vortec TBI intake on it, 454 Throttle body, 9C1 injectors.

did what I could there in the time allotted there. From there It went back on the trailer and out to 63ChevyII's for the next phase of completion.

Once there. I only had 2 days left! ended up pulling an allnighter and hammering out the progress.. It went on his lift. Buttoned up everything on the motor. Installed radiator, hooked up all the little stuff. Fired it up! Then onto drive line, made some temporary drive shafts. I had the SYE installed in a case already, but loaned that out. So I used a stock NP241 and brad shortened a suburban v2500 slip shaft for it for the time being. Shortened a Super Duty CV for the front. Installed Ruffstuff diff cover, welded Hydro assist tabs on. Installed DOM center link with new ends. Measured for hydro assist tabs, burned them on. Didn't have time for getting all the right ends for installing the ram. Installed front shocks. Trimmed fenders and Quarters.

finally loaded up for a weekend in the mountains with out even a test drive! fingers crossed!

We were too late to meet up with MrK5. So we (63chevyII and I) decided to do our own thing just to shake the trucks down. Ended up at rainbow falls just up in the mountains outside of Colorado springs.

Seemed to do ok for what I had to work with. Couldn't get it to run quite right, but good enough for the action it would see over the next two days.

first pit stop to check on everything.

finally got to a challenging point of the trail. made a few trips up the falls. Climbed pretty well. flex was decent! Found out that the slip part of the front super duty shaft was too short..

ended up finding a good spot to camp for the night and made it out the next day. Unfortunately, I don't have any more pics. The last few miles were where the problem(s) really showed. It progressively started to run worse. I was getting death wobble at speeds as low as 10mph... well after getting back to work for a couple of weeks, letting the blazer sit for a bit. I finally pulled it back out and started to investigate. The steering issue was easy to spot. The taper for the tie rods in the knuckles had been worn out. I should have noticed this when I was installing the new ends, considering they had washers on them. So on the hunt for new knuckles. Then the running issue. I tried another known good PCM, no change. Tried another module, no change. Said what the hell, tried an entire distributor thinking maybe the pick-up was bad. No dice.. Ok, now fuel supply. Tried a known-good-stock-everything 5.7 TBI. Still no change! disconnected the feed line to the TBI, checked for pressure. 13 PSI. Thought, not bad.. but still wasn't off enough to make it run that way. Decided to drop the 3/4 full tank of fuel anyway and found this!

Fairly confident this will fix the issue! I ordered a piece of submersible fuel line that will be in tomorrow. This is the second time I've had this issue with this thing!

after going through all that, I hope it's the problem
seems it would have shown up when checking the fuel pressure, at 13psi, is that good? Dunno what TBI runs at.

That would be an issue either way.

Now let's go wheeling.

Still have some things to finish up. Its got some less than desirable exhaust hacked under it for that one run.
Steering and the running issue are at the top of the list. I'd take it out for some fun once that stuff is resolved.

next things up;
re install 454 Throttle body with 9C1's
custom exhaust
sye
strong box (possibly)
new professionally made drive shafts
finish hydro assist
track bar
anti wrap bar
install full MSD
rear bumper
fuel tank skid

But I like the 4 am exhaust system

Huge tanks to Brad (63chevyII) by the way for all the help and 4 am exhaust especially.

Can't wait to wheel with you guys. We have to do something before summer is up

The fuel line made a huge difference! fixed about 90% of run ability issues. Going to put the 454tbi back on and see what that changes.
