Possible carb problems dying while driving, any ideas?

The black one and the white one in Lubbock have both been sold. But recently a person on this forum from Carlsbad nm (about a little over an hour away) told me he knows of a few for sale and his friend has one that he wants 2000 for so I'll go check It out this weekend probably. I won't forget the k5 buyers guide! :waytogo:
 
Ok I have a couple questions, should I consider trucks as an option? Ian's are k30's good for off roading? Are their axels stronger than a k5?
 
K30's, if they are a true K30, are definitely stronger than a K5. They have a beefier frame, stronger tranny, and a Dana 60 front and 14 bolt full floater rear, which is what a lot of guys swap in to Blazer's. So, they are definitely an option if you foresee yourself doing a lot of hardcore wheeling in the future so you don't have to do an axle swap from the half tons in the Blazer.
 
Well ya, I'd do that. And I'm sure with a 20+ year old truck id be doing work. How Would a k10 or k20 compare? The same with smaller axels and weaker frame, tranny? How do you tell If it's a true k30?

The front axle will tell you.
It will be a D60.
To recognize it there are a few clues.
On the passenger side the springs top plate is held on by One big U bolt and 2 bolts.
The knuckles have King pins showing by a plate with 4 bolts with a zerk fitting.
And if you want to get a closer look, on the pumpkin you will see a D60 cast in.

He's close enough, and he's good people.
 
He seems to be, I think he's out of town he said he'd get back to me early next week. So a k30 would be worth looking at just because of how strong it is?
 
im really considering it, would crew cab short bed look funny? And imiceman, you said he has a larger collection of trucks than you I thought i read that earlier. Sorry if I'm just confused.

and what search terms should i put in on craigslist to find a k10, 20, or 30. i cant find anything

There are LOTS of people with crew cab short beds, if you haven't seen ours (well, it's a bed we made and not a short bed, but close):

The cool thing about K30 is, as mentioned, they already have all the really heavy duty parts that everyone else wants.
 
Nice k30!:waytogo: and ya I think I'm going to be looking for a k30 but I like k10's and blazers so I'd be happy with any of those. Just gotta save up and wait till I find the right deal.

Im kinda jealous of the fact your in the buying/shopping phase for a new truck or K5 lol, i had a ton of fun when I was just looking!
If your open to trucks id def go for a K30, im still pretty new to the 4x4 scene and it took me a while to figure out thats what i needed to get. Keep doing what ur doing and research the heck out of this stuff!
Btw that one in Big Spring is really close to me and I wouldnt mind taking a look at it firsthand, if your interested in it. Good luck
 
Ya big spring isn't too far away, but what k30 is there? And buying is pretty fun, but I can't wait to find one!
