NJ Possible part out 89 K5

OK....if you decide to part the K5 out, let me know. $10.00 for the pair?

OMG you're going to kill that black one
Why the change of trucks? The red one is dead? Can't find a good working K5 that's less rotted out than the red one, but not as nice as the black one?

bummer
Makes me wish it had a death like my blazer will have. Slow, beat to sh**, and having been all over the place.
Oh well
Wish I could get the 241 but shipping :(

I cracked the frame in the red one. Nothing crazy but it’s cracking. The body work is outside my area of comfort and the frame crack was the deal breaker so I’m looking to pass it on while it’s still worth something. It’s the best running k5 I’ve owned. I’m just tired of my left leg going numb while out plowing from the giant hole where the driver side rocker used to be. The driver seat leans so far to the left it’s now touching the pillar.

I really hate killing these great trucks but for what I pay for them vs what I make with them plowing, I can justify it in my head at least.

Got any details on that front coil setup?
Sorry bud, I put them on the truck about 5 years ago. They are a no name brand from a local auto parts store so I don't really have much info on them. I went with the coil overs because that is what was on the truck when I bought it. I'm not sure how much difference they really made other than I can tell you that when you lifted the plow off the ground the front bumper only dipped maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch... I really wish I knew what they were because I'd put them on my new truck.

Pretty sure that Monroe makes them under the name of loadlevlers.
That makes sense... I know Monroe is a brand they carry. Thank you for the info. I'm going to look into getting them for the new truck and will let you guys know what I find out about them.

Haven’t updated this in a while. I know I posted this somewhere else on here but forgot to put it on the build thread.

Anyway.. new front shocks. Monroe load leveling shocks. These are temporary until I get the lift installed and the Bilstein 5125’s. It was amazing how shot the other ones were. The picture shows the old ones compressed and that was done by hand..

So far, I like them! They are my cheap fix until I get my lift installed.

Well, that crack is definitely from the plow. Too bad there isn't an easy way to just cage the truck a little to prevent that.
I'm surprised K5s work that well for plowing. I'd figure the pickups would be best, obviously 1tons but I'm sure they are more expensive.

You’d be surprised how great they are. Up in north jersey we don’t usually get huge multi foot snow storms but what we do get they are amazing for. The the 5.3 and the solid front axel make it a beast. With the cap, a full tank of fuel, the snowblower, 300lbs of Salt, and good tires it’s almost unstoppable. The turning radius is just icing on the cake. I can keep up with HD2500 all storm long and the bonus is my Salt never freezes and snow blower starts right because I keep them inside. With a pickup they would be in the bed out in the elements

15 years ago in Wisconsin, it seemed like it was as common to see a K5 with a plow as without one...

If you do part it out, I'd take the front seat belts (male & female sides & hardware, etc.) if they'd be available.

Sure no problem, make an offer

The seat belts are complete. All the plastic covers are there with no cracks and even the plastic piece that holds the female side up isn’t cracked either and both ratcheting parts work like they should
