on the crapper...
That's right, post up the parts you used when going to crossover steering.

I am looking for what you used for your:

pitman arm
draglink
steering arm(s)

Tell us the original application (make, model, year) for a stock part borrowed from another vehicle, the vendor if you bought it from a vendor, how you modified it, etc.

Let us know anything different about your setup, low steer/hi steer/reverse hi steer, what your front axle is, how you like the components etc.

If you say that you found your pitman arm in the dirt at the junkyard, that is interesting, but not very helpful.

Used a 2wd steering gear box for an '83 k30 which uses the o-ring style fittings.

Everything else was sourced from Northwest Fab.

It is mounted on a stock dana 60F

The draglink does hit the crossmember when turning right and the left tire is stuffed into the fender.

All the components are of the highest quality. If they had bent the drag link more like ORD did for their cross-over it would've been perfect. No real problem for me though as my crossmember is cracked anyway and will be replaced with one that does not interfere with the draglink. Offroad x-over works great! I am able to steer to full lock even when twisted up in the rocks. Worth every penny.

454, how much lift do you have? (BTW, I bet the box came from a C30 :D )

Chaddy, I'd love to get the ORD kit, but it is a little too rich for me. :doah:

I have the ORD kit on a D60, with the engine x menber. I really like there parts beefy.
I have a extra steering arm for a d60 x-over if you are instested. PM me.

PM sent.

Still interested to see what other people did. Especially pitman arms from a different vehicle.....

I have k5 w/ 37's, 6" lift springs, stock engine crossmember.

I got my pitman arm from a 79 Ford Van I think it was the 3/4 or 1 ton.
Worked well.

The hi-steer arms came with the axles when I bought it.

I used the tierod from the stock tierod that came with the axle and had it cut, drilled and tapped to use as the draglink.

Bought another HD tierod from a member here and used that as my hi-steer tie rod. Could not use the one I had because it was too small.

Got the 2wd gear box used from a member on another site.

Works really well.

I had to install a trac/panhard bar to eliminate death wobble. A friend at an off-road shop next my house had bought one for his K5 but needed cash so I got it from him.

I just scrounged up pieces when I saw them and when I had it complete I installed it.

I am running Parts Mike steering Arms, 2wd Steering Box, and a Pitman arm off of a 78-79 F150 drop pitman arm, got it from Superlift I believe.

There are a few bugs with mine, but I have . . .
A Sky Manufacturing steering arm for a Dana 44,
A steering box from a 1978 2wd chevy pickup,
A custom tie-rod with tie-rod ends from a 1972 chevy pickup,
A custom drag-link with factory drag-link ends,
A pitman arm from a Jeep Comanche pickup.
My drag-link is straight, but it hits the oil pan.
My pitman arm is too short and has too much drop. I can't get full steering on the axle and the leaf spring is hitting the drag-link end.

Mine is set up with an YJ pitman arm but since it drops way way too much I need to get a different one.
Keep postin up your specs everyone (especially where you got your pitman arm from)

I started with a TJ/YJ pitman arm, because we had one at the shop when I did the conversion. But I did not get my full turning radius. I switched to the F150 drop pitman arm when I put my hydro assist in, and it made a huge improvement. I didn't have to do 4 point turns on the switchbacks last time I went wheeling.

ive got a 86 k10 pickup with 6in lift and i am running a 10bolt in the front with d44 knuckles. I don't have mine installed yet but i ordered every thing through WFO Concepts and i got my steering box from twoslo4five0 which was on his blazer.

Parts

The Complete kit from ORD with the rock rod. Plus the PSC Hydro assist kit. Love every minute since I did it.

-Sector shaft from junk yard 2wd box
-WFO Concepts crossover kit with pitman arm, drop-draglink and steering arm
-Napa factory replacement tie-rod & ends
-RockLogic 1.5x8 Hydraulic Ram-Assist with "pump mod" done to factory PS pump

I have a 4 inch lift but the front springs are starting to sag a little. The only time I get contact is when I am flexed and turning which would happen regardless of spring condition unless I was running massive bumpstops, crossmember should fix that. Yes the box is from a C30, good catch!

As far as cost I dont think there is a big difference between the different manufacturers. Really all the cost is in that darn steering arm which they machine. When you buy them as a kit you get all new components that fit the first time which is why I didn't piece meal mine together.
