Potent Rodent

New built engine, EFI, 4L80 transmission, t-case, brakes, hydroboost, tires/wheels and more!
New headlights installed. Went with the LMC clear housings and installed some brighter 9005/9006 LED bulbs that had good reviews and filament placement is close to factory specs which is important. Had to cut the bucket a little for the LED fan with a body saw. Lights seem to work well and are pretty bright compared to the halogen bulbs, still need to adjust them. Placed the chrome bezel on just to see how it looks. I need some of those white plastic nuts that pop in the radiator support. Also need to get a wiring harness or do a relay mod to allow the low beams come on when brights are enabled down the road.

shouldnt need relay mod with led stuff as most are 9-10 volt and up . relay for high and low yes .
Not so much the voltage, but to enable both low beam and high beam the same time. Right now its one or the other, not both. They make some kit or I think you can do it yourself with a relay or two.

you just need a relay to kick on and feed power to the low when high is on .

i know the mod for both as i have done it .

my budget beater has led upgrades and no replay mod for power and she is bright .

So something like this should work correct?

ya should do the trick .

when i did mine on my old truck with the 89-91 nose i did the relay mod since i was still running old bulbs . i made the headlights trigger the relays to feed the headlights . then the 3rd relay for high = all option . also ran my power wire off the alt stud to keep it short .

i also had a 4th relay to swap power from headlights to plow lights that got a little wierd wiring that up .

@sweetk30
Thanks for the info!

On another note, how is your Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4 running?

Added one relay on passenger side close to battery so the wires are short. That did the trick. Pretty darn bright getting in front of both lights!

30 = 12v battery
86= high beam green wire
87= low beam orange wire
85= ground

This also gives low beams full battery power when high beams are on.

Added these inexpensive billet side post distribution blocks on the battery. Works great when you have many connections going to one battery. I need to find a cover for the positive side.

I have to admit, I miss my old dual terminal batteries which also helps with this.

Those are neat. Where did you get them? First thought I had was a cover for the positive. Couple of times I've accidentally touched a wrench to the positive and core support. Anymore I always buy dual post batteries too.

Ebay for $20 shipped.

I think I may change to a nicer remote distribution block eventually but for now these will do. I do like how well these were made. But you are right...they need a cover.

Huge thanks to Steve @CK5 for the help last night. We got the dust covered hood on and adjusted. Beeotch be rolling out of the garage on its own power to head to the exhaust shop to do dual 3" setup TODAY.

Made a few sparks with the alternator last night. Had to get the power steering belt off to install the power steering and positive terminal touched the bare alum. manifold. Luckily I had a 200amp fuse inline with that wire. I had to remove the fuse holder and bolt the wires back together. My fault for not disconnecting the battery before I did that. Anyone know where to get one of these fuses?

First time in MANY years it has seen daylight.

Still need to get the grille on and paint over the lettering on the hood since its no longer a BBC. Lots of minor things left but at least its finally able to drive!

exhaust being done today
fix wires under dash
install alum. coolant tank
wire up fan relays
fix headliner
grommet for firewall
install new grill
paint front bumper
mount winch
mount solid trans dipstick (don't like flexible thats installed)
Fix alternator fuse
