Power Window Idea <--- IT WORKS

If you confirm that you have power to the relays, I would suspect the motor. I doubt that you killed the motor by doing something wrong, if it was working, then quit. I say this as I did this mod to a '90 K5 for a buddy after installing all new seals, window regulators and clean/ lube tracks. The parts were all from LMC and the windows would not go down. Once the relay mod was done, all was great until the passenger motor quit instantly.
Is it just the driver side that you did the relays on, or both? If the relays are still clicking, I would suspect the motor, if not check your switch. I am assuming that you will check your power supply to the relays first.

Just saw this thread and im really thinking about doing this tomorrow. Just one question is isnt there gonna be a constant hot to the window motor from the battery from the relay? Or do i just dont know how rekays work?

If you wire it like the diagram, you will only have power to the motor when you hit thesswitchwhich will actuate tthe relay. The relay will then carry the full load to the motor leaving the switch with the easy task of only actuating the relay.

I tried this about a year ago, and while testing it I shorted something out, and now the driver side doesnt work at all. With or without the relay. I think I checked the fuse and it was good. Did I toast the motor? It was just a quick pop.

My guess would be the motor, or if you wired the hot to go back to the switch somehow, the switch. A voltmeter could find the problem real quick. To this day I have a hard time with relays... This was actually the first time I didn't destroy something putting them in.

I already had my door panels off doing the resto that I'm working on. I put the relays and the harness' together in the living room and was only outside for about 45 minutes.

I tried this last weekend and didn't succeed because i picked up the wrong relay. I didn't know what I was getting but I got the one where the hots were linked. I didn't even check. It blew my fuse first try.

Yeah i ran hot right off the distro on the firewall. Grounded to the door though. I think i'm going to take the ground back out through the door to the chasis.

Lunatic: that diagram helped

The only existing wiring I used was for the switch - To trigger the relay. Everything else was newly installed.

The motor wiring was cut to length for the new wiring and then butt spliced to the new wiring.

Just as an update on this.
Got the passenger side window done. It wouldn't even roll down before.
Now it is moving down around 6 seconds and up in about 5.

I'm going to put some more details and pics in my build thread.

I need to do this mod as well, my passenger side window barely wants to go down anymore and the drivers side isn't much better.

Yes, it will still have individual (Driver side controls both windows, passenger controls passenger) controls.

The legend in the top diagram shows each wire color and what it controls for the driver side control switch.

Yes I would like to use the master switch would the above wiring diagram work or would I have to do something else?

That schematic will let the switches function as they always have, so the driver's master switch controls the passenger side.
The color coded wires labeled in the schematic that are coming out of the driver's switch and passenger's switch get connected directly together.

Here's an out loud thought. Have you ever used the later 95 ish power windows and noticed how much faster they are than ours? They use a different but similar motor. Also, it uses 9 teeth on the motor vs our 12 teeth. If the relays dont give me the power and speed i want, i might try hybridizing a 95ish motor onto my regulator. Or even hybridizing the 95ish regulator and motor onto my 90 door. Something i have been pondering on.
