Pricing added! In boarding shock kit

56s in the rear do not add lift just length to the spring. I have a stock 56 with 5 leaves and no overload in mine and it is pretty close to the 52s I took out. I think a 4" lift 56 will put you where you need to be.

Did anyone ever get this installed on a blazer? Wondering if there is any clearence issues with the gas tank or any other fitment issues?

There are quite a few kits out there. Someone should have one installed by now or maybe working on it.

I'm working on installing it and don't think the gas tank is an issue as much as the angle on the frame is a little different.

That is quite a bit different. The lower hole on the mounting bracket is only there for location purposes. It doesn't even really need to be used. Or I suppose it could be used but not tightened down until the 4 holes in the vertical wall are drilled in the correct rotational position.

I had considered not even having the lower locating tab on there. It would just require more careful measuring before drilling. Looks like I may be going back to this idea.

Kennyw,

Can you get me an angle meaurement on where it would need to be? Rather than changing the mounting position of the brackets in the frame rails, the smaller tabs could be rotated.

What year is your rig?

Mine is an '85... I'll see what I can find to measure the angle.

Kennyw,

Got the angle. 19.7* difference from the truck to the blazer. I'm making new mounts for the crossmember right now. Gas tanks will not be an issue. The crossmember will slide forward a bit to get away from the shock depressions on the frame on the drivers side as well. Soon as I get a set done they'll be on there way.

Sounds good... I haven't had a chance to touch it for the last week... Let me know when its ready, hopefully I will be too.

The R and D is turning out a bit different than expected. Body mounts are a concern as well as the shock depression in the side of the frame.

I was thinking about moving the bracket on top of the axle and using different shock tabs instead... I believe that was the setup 55willy was making a while back. Your current design would fit there, I'd just have to get rid of the alignment tab and set it up myself.

Are you going to need that frame longer than this weekend?

Just ordered mine today. I was going to build my own but I am running out of time for my trip to BAJA.

All the setup is done and the first ones were pulled of the jigs yesterday and proofed this morning. So its all good. Quite a bit different actually, Allowances were made for the body mount and gas tank. I'll post a picture in a bit.

OK, here's what I did different for the blazer. First thing was the angle. Hard to see from the photo but the angle was corrected. Turned out to be 19.7* difference. Second thing, we had to make some allowances for the shock depression in the frame rail, so the crossmember is further forward in the frame just a bit. This also allowed more room between the shock crossmember and the gas tank crossmember.

Now, with everything positioned the way it is, It's damn hard if not impossible to drill one of the holes, so in the center of the photo you'll see a couple drill templates. If you drill two of the holes on each side and then bolt these on and drill the last two holes from the wheel well you'll be golden. Hope this makes things a little easier. When its all said and done, just leave the templates bolted on.

The templates will now be included with all the shock inboarding kits whether it be for a pickup or a blazer.

I'll be updating the website as soon as possible and adding a buy it now button specifically for blazers.

Good idea on the templates. Wish I had them with mine as I got one of the holes a little crooked. Had to wallow it out a little to fit but it is good now.

They would also strengthen the frame a little, but do you think it would matter at all?

I ordered mine a couple months ago and have it sitting in the garage. I havent installed it yet and after seeing this what is the difference on the one I have and the new design.. It will be going on a 80 k5 will I have any issues with old design when istalled. Thanks

junior, check your frame against my pics... You can see a major difference between the K5 and pickup. From what I understand though, only the outer brackets have changed for the K5 in his kit. But PM Kurt and I know he will take care of you if you need the other brackets.
