Progress

Extremely well fed, We go down the street to the mexican gut wagon and get there $5 beef burritos, Best stuff in town!

His driveline vibe is self induced, He didnt post the whole picture, He was on the other end stroking it:haha:

Good times though and Bear is a fun guy to hang out with, The painless kit was exactly that, just a slight trim where the old fuseblock pokes through the firewall.

Do you have a part number for the one you used? I'm curious if it uses the stock fuses or the newer blade fuses.

painless# 10206, it was the one for 67-72 chevy trucks, Most all the under dash was terminated with stock plugs, I had to chop all those off since the only stock thing under the dash was the windshield wiper motor.

It uses the newer atf fuses like the mid 80s chevy trucks do, really nice kit.

Grind grind grind

Kids have been sick, but I'm finally back out to the shop to grind the front calipers for the 15" rims and the Boggers.

First of all there is a hell of a lot more grinding in the front it would be worth purchasing a kit from Kert if he had it. The back was so easy, thanks Kert!

Secound BIGBADCHEV was right it would have been amazingly easier with the Boggers not mounted on the rims.:doah: My bad, I was like nah I toss that on there no problem.:haha::haha:

My official tech write up is: Grind, Paint, Mount:laugh::rolleyes::mad::laugh::rolleyes::mad::laugh::rolleyes::mad: for a long time.

The UP side is, that 5 Hour Energy, VHT and the endorphine rush of mounting that tire 25x's a side is really not a bad go...:wink1: back that up with some Alaskan Amber's and a little itunes and hey, it's a fun night in the clubhouse!:D

Calipers

Had to do a trip to Portland for a show but I went out and ground the other caliper last night and got the front end finished. Using the bench grinder before installing calipers was a huge time saver.

The gas tank intall is the last major hurdle, hopefully I'll get more time this week.

The other debate is should I go ahead and bedline the interior now and try not to think about the rust. There isn't a lot just 1 spot really and I really wanna enjoy the truck for the summer. I already have all the bedliner.

Well if you need a hand let me know, I got the welder still as well, panels are cheap and We can have those installed in a day, otherwise you do still have the second floorboard that gm installed for the tall guys:haha:

have you gotten a chance to pressure up the brakelines yet? Just curious to see how the double flare tool worked.

i forgot to tell you when I was returning it to autozone, a customer asked fuel or brakelines? I said brakelines, he laughed and said good luck!

he said he had a jeep comanche he was restoring and tried his own brakelines......didnt turn out so well

cage done

I got the cage back from the shop and they finished up all the tabs added some tube and cleaned stuff up.

I had it in my head that I wanted to do GunMetalGray and wanted to use brush on Rustoleum Hammerd Finish. They don't make that color so I used a quart of black and about 2/3 quart of silver. I like it.

Seriously.... someone's got to teach our friend how to rotate photos before posting them. This thread is killing my neck.

:usaflag:

LMC Tank

I got the LMC Fuel Tank kit because I really wanted a bolt in replacement. Problem is that the filler neck exits the tank right at the body mount. I didn't have the original tank to swap out filler necks.

I did some googling and found some flexible fuel filler hose at an industrial hose supply company, nothing was available locally. With the 1" body lift there was enough space to do it.

3' of 1 3/8 hose and some tbar clamps was only $28.

I had the same problem and was speculating that a small body lift would help. It looks like I was right. Nice work!

so close

Im getting really close.

One huge hurdle for me was setting up the e-brake. I wanted to use factory cable and the pedal. I don't weld or have wicked fab skilz so after staring at this thing for hours it occurred to me that I could cut the rivets off of the factory e-brake bracket, trim off the corner then drill and mount it to this other one. It puts the cable inline with the caliper, it's stout, and at some point down the road I can pull it off and get somebody to make one using this as a template. I'm pretty proud of the solution, but if anybody has any ideas I'd love to hear it.

Factory Cable at stock length. Oh I had to drill out the pivot point on the back of the caliper, it was coarse thread and the cable was fine thread so I did a jam nut. super easy to adjust and set.

This afternoon I'm gonna throw the cage back in and mount up seats and harnesses.

Looks good... I know the feeling of staring at something for hours trying to figure out a way to do it..

Bad thing is when I start arguing with myself over different solutions:screwy::screwy:

My only concern is the angle of the cable and water entering in and rusting up the cable. Any way to route the cable so the end is pointing down?

Looking good Bear! have you fired it up yet? brakes? I bet the jeepers that always drive by are really jealous now. Is the wife starting to get excited seeing it transform from a driveway ornament to something you can drive to work in?

Got any pics of the cage and seats installed? Oh yeah, and am I gonna have to make a special trip up there to put your door moulding back on?:haha:

The End

I drove to work today for the first time in forever. Justin and I started on it at 5AM and got the cage wrestled back in, and tied up some loose ends.

The rear axle is just tacked in place so I haven't gotten to romp on it but initial impression is F'n Awesome! I still have to get the kids seats in and adjust harnesses, but that's about it.

I wanna thank everybody that helped, put up with the goofy build thread, and kept me motivated.
