Project 82 TCBF -10.13.9 - progress!!!

If you have a large compressor and a air gun then go for it. Both sets will last considerably longer.

Well, I do have a compressor, at my buddys, but I`m considering OBA....

I will have the room to keep the second said of tires, so thats not an issue...

x2 Mr. Ben. If the choice of tires makes you happy, then go for it! Many of us would like to run AT's on the street and MUD's for the trail, but storage and finances sometimes run that plan a muck (no pun intended). I say go for it!

I would probably get truxus mts over bfg muds. If I got the muds then I would get them siped they will last longer. I think the performance in the mud would be nearly the same, but I think the Truxus work a bit better on the street. The siping may equal this out a little. I called interco before ordering a set of truxus mts for a customer and they admitted they had a problem with one batch for sure but told me if I felt my tires were out of round to call them and they would take care of it. The truxus I did get used a worst of 11 oz to a best of :eek1: zero. Yep one tire balanced with no weight at all.

Well, If this works out the way I want it to, I`ll have two sets of sweet tires. Why spend the money on a set of tires, that does decent on both terrains, when you can have 1 set that does sweet on the street, and one that does sweet in the MUD, if you have the storage room, which I have a few different plans for.
 
no matter what you do you should get the pirelli's. $200 is a good deal if there is a lot of tread left. I have them on my blazer and I like them for the street.

as for a second set of tires. if you are truly only going to run them offroad them I would suggest Boggers or Iroks.

Cool, lets see where this deal gets me. As for second tires, they will see some street miles, and I don`t think either of those could be had for the price of the LTB.

you are right they will cost more, and Iroks don't even come in a 33"x15. but they are some awesome offroad tires. keep your eyes peeled, you may find a used set of boggers here or Ebay or craigs list. I sold my 35x16x16.5 for $325 and they had a ton of tread left.

If you get them siped, does that void the warranty on them?

If this deal doesn`t work out w/ the pirellis, then I will either run the BFG Muds, Trxus MT, and if someone can tell me how many miles they are getting out of them, Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ

why not 14ff. i dont think it cost much more, and you can buy the disc/ 6 lug kit for the ff too.. also you wouldbe covered in the future if you ever planned on going bigger

as for tire choices im sure you cant go wrong with a bfg mud or trxus

If it can be had, maybe. But with only 33s, that is a little much, and I don`t plan on going bigger, so there`s no issue there...All depends on whats available...so far I can get a 14bsf (not sure what gears are in them) for $100.

I've got 39.5" Super Swamper TrXus STS, great street and snow tire (not so good in mud; even dirt clogs up treads). But I'm running these on 1/2 tons (:eek1:), and need to keep six lugs for my lack of funds. What is this six lug and disc kit for the 14FF you speak of? I must have it! If I can have a six lug 14FF with discs and 5.13 gears for $1000 or less, screw the six lug 14SF! I want to be able to go muddin'!
 
or for $500 you could get a 14ff w/ 4.10's and an 8 lug 10b/d44 (varies) w/ 4.10's...then spend $150 on four 8 lug steelies shipped to your door from summit...spend $80 to have a local tire shop transfer your tires onto the new rims...spend a little here and there on u-bolts, lug nuts, etc. and be under $1000 with a 3/4 ton setup with the right gears!
Ask me how I know....:)
 
I'm not a big fan of steel wheels on my street truck, and I need 5.13's to return my power and then some. Trust me, I've crunched the numbers many times, and I still like the idea of keeping 6 lugs, either with a 14SF or this 6 lug disc 14FF that is spoken of. And I'm pretty set in my ways on this one... ;)

if this is such a street queen then just find a 10b/12b w/ 5.13's in it and toss it in...if not then pony up and start building...a 40" tire on 1/2 ton and/or sf axles doesn't sound like a good idea to me...I mean I see it done all the time around here but still...you mentioned $1000...with $1000 you could get it done and get it done right. Just my $0.02 though...If I can do it you can do it!
