Chris, these are already a huge improvement from my old tires, I don`t need no stinkin' 35s:D

ill remember that. you should hit a trail this weekend / next week.

To be honest, I don`t see any real improvement going from 33s to 35s. All you are getting is one more inch of clearance. They`re not worth it considering that you`d have to regear, etc....

Dave, this week end and next week are really tight for me. I wish I had known earlier, I have school vacation all this week. I`m going to run these tires for a while, at least a year, then, after I get everything else done with the rig (rust removal, engine/tranny/tcase) and all other odds and ends done, I`ll work on building up. At most, I will probably end up with 4" lift/trimmed fenders, 3/4 ton, 36s,4.56s,rebuilt tcase/engine, rebuilt 10b/14bff. But,as of right now, seeing as this is my 95% DD, I really don`t see a need for all that. I`m not really looking to tackle the biggest mud/water hole my truck can handle, just looking to have fun, and get a little MUDDY!

As far as the wheeling I`m going to do: I`m mostly going for the woods type trails, scenic routes, and then trails where there is just enough MUD to have fun in. The only reason why I`m limiting my wheelin' to that is because everything is so far away. Now I`m sure when I`m at my buddys in NH, and the trails are all within 15 minutes away, I`ll get a little more "extreme", but you never know...

Hey guys, been a while. Made a big decision. Due to the fact that we didn`t do the rust work "right" the first time, its starting to spread, and is not in worse shape. So, since its getting harder for me to get the help needed to do all that metal work right, I decided its time to let her go. So, when the inspection sticker is due, she`ll be coming off the road, and either sold whole, or parted out.

The vehicle that will replace this will be a diesel pickup, assuming I can find one...

I hope you are kidding. If not Quitter! whats wrong with young guys. can't you guys see anything through to the end? If a little rust scares you away you should give up all together with old vehicles. you live in a rust prone area, even if you go to Arizona to buy a truck it will start rusting when you bring it home.

Either get some better friends that can help you or grow the gonads necessary to realize you can do it all yourself. If you think I seem bitter you're right. I am not the first one to bring a truck back from the dead. go to 4x4 mecca and read "the Phoenix" thread. listening to a kid complain about rust is ridiculous. It's like you saying "my grass keeps growing, so I'm gonna sell my house and get an apartment." God forbid owning a truck free and clear without payments requires some effort to maintain.

live and learn buddy.. ive made mistakes, but ive never thought about selling the truck over it.

i just think you want a new truck

plus i dont think youll get much parting her out:dunno:

Dude dont give up now....I just looked through some of this thread, its a good lookin blazer man! Seriously, after i got a 4runner and quit driving the blazer, i didnt wanna mess with it, then after I got the mustang I was willing to bet i'd never mess with it and was really wantin to sell it. Things turned out different tho, and I now I'm consumed with it. I'm willing to bet this is just kinda of a spurt of frustration, I get that way some days with my blazer. Just take some time away from workin on it, then rethink sellin it.

Well, right now its all behind the rockers, and in the corners of the cab floor, the tail pan/tail gate posts are shot, cab floor really should be fully replaced. The subframe for the floor is about rotted in half. I`m looking at about $800 in metal, assuming I can get the work done. I really want to do it. I think whats been getting me down lately, is that i`ve been finding other things wrong that I can`t figure out. Still can`t find why I have so much play in my steering, motors burning a good amount of oil, mostly likely needs a rebuild, trannys shifting harder, but I have my built one that can replace it. And then the one that bites everyone in the ass, the price of gas.

I guess I should really reconsider....Is it worth all the metal work? Would a trazer conversion be worth it, or a better idea than the metal work? Help me out guys...I need a little cheerin up....

Man don't sell that baby. Yes they are a pain in the butt, trust me, every time I look at mine I realize how much work I have to do to get it where I want it to be. My wife would love for me to sell it, and put the money somewhere else (like into her hands), but I have waited a long time to find the Blazer I wanted. It is the right year, right options, and ugly as sin, but I wouldn't sell it. If the rust is bothering you, I can send some pics of the rust on mine, and based on the description, you are in better shape than me. I am looking at over 1500 in metal alone. That's without figuring my time, welder use, and then having it painted.

I bought my Blazer because they are unique, and getting harder to find. Yes I paid 2500 for it, it burns a little oil, has plenty of places for marking it's territory, and needs lots of work. That is the price we pay for having old vehicles. Take some time away from it, and you will be much more relaxed. There are always friends who can help with the work that needs to be done. If you want a trazer do it, but don't sell it, trust me you will regret it later. My dad still wishes he had never gotten rid of his rusty 57 chev 210, and he told me when I found my Blazer, never let it go.

Well, went on a little road trip today. For what? Well, I went and saw TruckNutsDude from here on CK5 (thanks again brother!) and I got a new column, from an 85, non tilt, and a tailgate, which isn`t it perfect shape, but isn`t far from it..all it needs is a little patch and a little working of the latch and i`ll be good. Whats the gate for, you ask? Anyone remember my 1/2 top? Well, it`s going on, except before it does it will be shortened quite a bit, similar to kerts at DIY4X.

Also, I have quite a hefty order coming in from LMC next week.

Heres a couple pics.

Along with the tailgate came all the hardware to mount it in the blazer, and a free set of tail lights!

Well im glad to see you aren't gonna sell the blazer. That 1/2 top is gonna look sweet on your truck!
