Project 82 TCBF -10.13.9 - progress!!!

Dude wait untill you are fully prepared and have the time to do all neccessary work so you do it right and only have to do it once.
That, IMO, from experience, is the only way to go about things. And this project would leave me busting my ass for three weeks to get everything together. Not worth it. Not enough time, and definitely not enough money to attempt this project this year. What I`ll do, is from now until I do it, get everything ready to go.

Mhm do what ive been doin, collecting parts and then when you have everything, put em all together

You doin any work on the blazer this weekend?

Yeah, possibly. I just had my buddys dad grab the detroit this morning to press the new bearings on at his work. I`d like to get that in, and replace the shafts this weekend, but I`m still a little leary of doing it without actually knowing how to set the backlash. Do you guys have that backlash tool at the Mobil you work at?

Alright, I`ll let you know. I had my buddys dad try and do the bearings today. He got the old ones off, to find the new ones were too small. So, after dinner I gotta head down to the auto parts place to see if I can get new ones. I`ll either try and return/exhange these ones, or maybe sell them for cheap. Got them a couple months ago, I probably lost the reciept:(

I was able to track down the right bearings, but then I wasn`t able to find the right race. So, after giving up, and deciding to just get the bearings, and hope it all works, I come home to find that the races came with the locker I got! So, I`ll see if I can get it in this weekend.

had to add some colors.

add some tailights, turn signals, gate, maybe highlift mount, tie town points.

Bad news. Locker is 31 spline, and all my shafts (including ones in current axle) are 28 spline:mad: Seems as though what I thought was the original rear end, was changed out before. Otherwise, it would`ve been 31 spline:mad: NUMBNUT POs!

No local yards have any 89-91s I can get 31 spline shafts from, and at this point in the build, now that I`ve definitely smarted up a bit after making my last purchase, I`m begging to realize what a ticking time bomb it would`ve been.

On the plus side, I have every component, minus shafts, to convert an 8 lug 14bsf to 6 lug. I just have to use the parts Glenn wanted. Sorry brother, I would`ve loved to hook you up.:(

I`ll also be starting on the plans for the flat bed. Gonna be trick!:D

Hey ben, I wasnt able to get to my brother's house and take pics/measurments for the flatbed. But I was at the indy 4x4 jamboree and I saw a few flatbeds and I got some pics. Just need to upload them.

oh, sorry bout that.
This first one is similar to how I want to build mine, except the sides will use round tube rather than square tube

and this one is on a toyota, but i really like how it looked

Yeah, the first one is similar to how I want mine, except using 2x2 square tube. The only things I`d do different, is I`d want the "base" platform wider, and the sides lower.

Here`s some update pics of how she`s sitting in the driveway. Cleaned up the inside, and started taking it all apart. Got the fenders, wells out. Tomorrow, hopefully hood, and rad support.

Wow back on topic that cab looks awsome. the floors in my blazer are about that clean but my truck was from california

Thanks guys for the comments, I`m still dumbfounded myself about how clean it is. The only thing I see, is underneath, some of the supports underneath have some surface rust/scaling on them. No biggie. When the cab comes of that frame, I still have to turn it on its side and seam seal/paint the underside.

Today, hoping I can get my mom or sister to help me, I`m going take the hood and rad support off. Then start working out how I`m going to pull the motor/trans, then get rid of the frame all together, and put the cab on something.

i might be able to get a motor lift for this weekend

I donno, eather sat or sunday, because my buddy wants me to help him with a body lift on an 03 chevy pickup
