Get around to the Lokar shifter, I'm curious about it. I haven't found much about it, but I'm thinking it will work with a theme I'm putting together for my truck.
Sir yes sir!:D

That will come shortly after the headlight mod is complete..I still have to pick up a back up switch for it, and I`ll be good to go;)

On a side note, I just finished the little box for inside of the ammo can..I even cut out a little stencil out a piece of card board for the beam indicators next to the breakers...unfortunately, I don`t have a camera to snap some pics right now..it seems my sister has found a new way to hide it from me, put it in her purse, then go to work with it:mad:  Pics to follow:D

You were talking about the 23" old school one right? I thought I saw that somewhere in your post but now I can't find it to confirm. If so, out of curiousity why are you thinking of going this route? Do you have any decent links for it? I found their site was pretty uninformative. Thanks!

Yeah, I got the 23" Nostalgia shifter. Well, I really liked the "look" of the shifter, after seeing it installed in a few rigs...it pretty much puts the shifter right where you need it...do a search for Lokar, and there`s a thread on it by Bear76 I believe, and in that thread look for gmc4cws` post. He has pictures of his 23" nostalgia installed....

Although, I still haven`t decided if I`m even going to use it or not....

Thanks for the info here goes another hour on CK5 :D. Let me know about the shifter, I'll probably be interested.

No problem, glad I could help! What would you be interested, the install, or the shifter itself?:D

WTF is it?

Had a little time to waste today, so I headed over to Home Depot and picked up a sheet of this stuff...the handle is there to make it easy to pull the assembly out, incase there was ever an issue with the wiring underneath...i`m thinking about redoing the top, but haven`t decided

Let me know what you think...

you should leave that clear. it would be cool to be able to see the wiring if you kept it uncluttered. zip ties and wire loom. maybe even put a light inside the box with it as kind of a backlight.

I meant the shifter, but I wasn't thinking, you have the 700 mines the 350 too bad. I'm definitely picking that up now.

WOW, for some reason when I read the posts, that first post of the particle board box was not visible......I thought I was crazy there for a moment....

Forgot to ask, there is a button on the top of the shifter for the lockout? Would this prevent using a custom shift knob or using an extension? (yes LONGER than 23") lol.

thay make a 32" shifter called "the radical"

the 23 is plenty tall. these pics are from my engine fire. they show the shifter before a 3" body lift.

Dood those pics look like they are from DURING the fire! LOL!

While it is a little ridiculous I'm thinking that that 32" is just what I'm looking for. Thanks I didn't see that on their site. Do you know whether or not you could use a different shift knob? Thanks again for letting me know about that.

*Edit*

Man, I'm sorry I got soo focussed I totally wasn't thinking about the serious jacking I was doing. I'm an a$$.

On with your build.

Well, that was my original plan, until I saw how much of a mess the epoxy I used to glue it all together made. So, now its black, with gray stenciled words on the top. I`ll try and get some pictures today.

Alright, the assembly is all done. It came out like 10X better than I thought it would, as I`ve never done anything like this before, nor have I ever messed with fiber glass. I even made up a little stencil out of cardboard for HIGH/LOW:o:D

Now all thats left is to wire it up, then install it :D

Let me know what you think!

Check out the stencil:D

It's all good Mr. Ben, but you're going to have to drill holes in the can to get the wires out. I'd suggest that either you have two wires, positive and negative, or run all wires through a single hole, with a grommet and once the wires are in place, RTV the grommet to seal it. Otherwise, moisture will still get inside the ammo can and you'll have humidity attacking the wires.

Keep up the good work and the focus! You're rig will be bad!

paint over the stencils. use a labelmaker or something more consistent when it comes to letter size and shape.

Ben, digging the ammo box.. Might wanna line some vital interior parts against an accidental bump from the hot wires in there... maybe spray glue some gasket material sheet in there, or some thin foam... And yeah, I agree with the others, lettered stickers would be best...

Do not take the grommet suggestion lightly.... You are using a metal box.. Shoulda mentioned picking some up before your electric order... Most Napa's will have many hole configs tho.. Little silicone after is fine, but NOT as a substitute!

Ok, I'm feeling generous tonight....

Here's what I'm running in my fiberglass box (box teaser alert - now has a lexan top :saweet: ).....

watertight wire bulkhead fittings........

Sweet, ryoken, as always:D

I have actually already picked up some grommets. So i figure either one for the input wires and one for the output, or just one for all...we`ll see...

As for the lettering...yeah, after looking at it more, i realized how crappy it looked, and as you guys have said, a stencil or vinyl lettering would be better, so, that`s what I`m going to do.;)

ryoken, you got a PM coming:D
