3/4 ton status
Yep. That will go down in the spring. I think I`m pretty well decided on using a shortened stepside bed.I'm way behind... Is the cab swap still happening? With a flatbed or shortened short bed?

Well, its kind of rigged up with a piece of 3/4 plywood, because I had nothing to use for a rear windowNot sure if I missed it, but how are you running a truck tailgate and rear glass? Btw, nice build.

Hahhaha, those went on a year or two ago, when I was VERY bored...hahah

all those lugs are making my head spin...![]()

Funny, I just realized I don`t even have a pic of the actual wheels

nothing....absolutely nothingcome on dude I want to know what you've been up to while I was gone.

Well, I guess I could update this. As of now, the front clip has been taken off. The rad support mounts were BAD!
I`ll get some pics, and start working on it here and there....
I`m not too sure yet, but due to gas prices, I`ve been considering dropping it back down to stock height, hell, maybe even lowering it a tad, getting the smaller tires back on there, and try to get the best out of this thing fuel economy wise....being my DD. Am I an idiot? We`ve gone through this before, so let me know
Basically, would it be likely to see much of an increase, where it would make it worth bringing it back to its stock glory? Or I could put Antigue plates on it, and if it comes out good enough, take it to car shows on the weekends![]()

Not very often, mainly because of the fact that the wheeling spots are few and far between. And the way I see it is, the easier the trail, the funner it is for me. Thanks for the input JonI don't think it's a bad idea Ben, just depends on how much you wheel. Unfortunately with gas prices, you can't really have it both ways unless you can walk or bike to school or work.
I'm getting mine back to DD status as we speak... I'm holding off on lifting it and keeping 31" tires and 3.73 gears in the diffs to save fuel. I think I'll do as good or better with the 3.73's since it lugged around so hard with 3.08's. As someone else said in another thread, it was often like driving uphill the whole time, especially on the interstate.
I'm dumping my Edelbrock square-bore carb in favor of another Q-Jet (the nice Edelbrock one) and recamming the motor with a cam that'll give more vacuum, and drop the torque peak down a few hundred RPMs. That should help tremendously. I was getting 17mpg+ on the highway with the worn-out 305, the much newer 350 should do as well.
After things settle down and I can drive it, I'll free up some much-needed garage space and start working toward getting a good inline-six built, either a 250 or 292.
It`s sounding better and better...Not very often, mainly because of the fact that the wheeling spots are few and far between. And the way I see it is, the easier the trail, the funner it is for me. Thanks for the input JonIt`s sounding better and better...

I`m the same way, take it how you want, but I`m not a hardcore wheeler either. When I`m on a trail, I`m nervous as hell, especially when there is a possibility of being stuck, although thats half the fun for most people. I like nice easy trails, something I KNOW I can`t get stuck on, in a stock rig. If my rig won`t make it, I`ll ride with someoneI don't see myself ever being a "hardcore" 'wheeler...ever. I like mild stuff, mainly nice remote camp sites...stuff like that. I have no need for 44's and a doubler, so it makes sense to keep the truck running as well as possible on the street.
Either way, I'm eager to see where your project goes.
Funny thing...about 3 miles from me is a body shop. They have what appears to be a C/K cab, freshly painted, just sitting out in the elements. (There's a retaining wall blocking the lower half of it). I've thought about asking them what they want for it since it's been there for months. It'd make a nice Trazer...![]()
I prefer to have fun on a nice easy trail, and dropping into a 4 foot water hole just doesn`t do it for me.

I think the decision has been made. The build will be turned into a stocker. Luckily, I still have my old front axle, just need to snag a rear. This way I`ll have a much better DD, in my eyes anywhoo.
I say snag that cab, and build yourself a trazer![]()

Believe me Glenn, I know. Yeah this project has gone in so many different directions, but this is the last turn for me. I need this thing to be the best DD possible, and getting rid of the lift/tires and bringing it back to stock status helps me in doing that therefore making it more affordable.Ben WTF!?!!??!?!
You're project takes so many turns, u-turns, flips, and rolls. I was excited to see you're rig come together and be capable. Believe me, a 4" lift will go a LONG way out on the trails. I've gone a few months between wheeling trips before, and I don't get tired of driving my truck at all even if it is on the street. I understand gas prices suck, I go through a tank per week myself, but mileage is not why i drive my truck.
