Project cheap tow rig, 94 cummins...

Gonna get these BFG rugged terrain 275/65r20 load range E.

Seem like the best choice I could find

Quick drawling of what I'm thinking for radius arms, I think I am already gonna change pretty much everything though. but should be similar with the I-beam style

I'm thinking the clevis idea will work decently also, but with a bushing instead of a heim at the end

It really needs to get lifted 4-5"

It got 18.6 mpg around town though, which isn't bad, hopefully its a little bit better this time around

Just need to get the top bumper cover and the exterior is done minus wetsanding and buffing

Not sure how much lift this would be over a stock 4x4 but I like it

I think I should have enough to get started making it 4wd, I'm not sure if I could go with the I-beam design for just make them from tube

Bed rail caps and bumper top trim installed, outside is pretty much done. Installing trailer brakes in the picture

Yeah, Florida

I just think it would be nice in case a trail head up north is muddy or something else. It also get pretty nasty down here at mud events, my buddy had to put his truck in 4wd just to get to our camp site

Not to mention it gets pretty muddy down here out in the country when I go places

Fair enough. I bet as it sits there now you could flip it and make a profit, then get a 4wd truck. Imo better that way in the long run.

Yeah that is true, I plan on using it for awhile as a 2wd. Maybe I could sell it and get a 6.0 manual, then run it till it has problems and do a 12v swap. I'd really like to find one with problems too and get it for cheap

My friend just bought a 2011 powerstroke and I'm very impressed with the newer ford trucks

If I sell the dodge 60 I could get the 35 spline stubs on my wheeler. Maybe I'll just do that and add some tow hooks to the dodge.

Imo best route there. Ford trucks outside of the engine, are superior to dodges without a doubt in my mind. As you can see the way I'm going myself.

It had plenty of power towing it, no noticeable squat or sway either, only got up to around 55 though

Bought some material, 2.25 with .25" wall, paid 50 bucks for 8+ feet

Can't find any tube inserts to fit inside, but I probably won't run adjustable ends anyways

I'm going to try and find some radius arm bushings from a new super duty. Can't find them online. I imagine the dealership has them though

What do you guys think about running rubber bushings on the axle end? I want this to ride nice, poly would be fine also but the rubber would be a little easier and cheaper. Not going to be flexing it out or anything.

The worst part I'm still thinking is going to be the upper coil bucket, I think I'll make them out of the box tubing.

I'm also thinking about just buying the ruffstuff radius arm brackets, seems easier than make my own

I think for what you're doing rubber would be fine. Look at all the old dodges running around with rubber at the axles and frame...

Can't find a source for the superduty bushings

Yeah I know, think I might just use some stock rubber bushings for a ram and change them down the road

I like this stance, he said it's 3.75" taller than stock with carli coils

I'd like to be a little lower with the axle further forward

I ended up just finding these, for $12 bucks a pieceits worth it since won't have to worry about machining sleeves now. They aren't even going to be much more expensive than the rubber

I used these, include a Gr 8 bolt and a grease zerk for not much more...

It's funny because I was reading this thread, (I haven't been following it regularly like your burb build) and I was thinking, shouldn't that already have coil buckets up top? Then I realized it's only 2 WD. Are you trying to become the CK5 king of 2WD to 4WD conversions? :waytogo:
