Project cheap tow rig, 94 cummins...

Yeah the stock air box quieted it down quite a bit. The filter minder gets pull down really far on it

But at the same when I switched I got worse gas mileage, I did it right before winter and my turbo going out probably didn't help either

Was only averaging 17mpg

New turbo seems to make the truck peppier, I didn't really get on it at all though, going to drive a few hundred miles first. Seems to pull a lot harder after 2000 rpm, even with the stock gsk

Don't equate anything while the turbo was ****ed. Especially thinking the air filter killed your mileage.

And for gosh sakes change that gsk. That will single handedly change your entire driving experience.

Yeah maybe I'll try to do that this weekend, got it all apart last time and got scared :haha:

Looked again at the install instructions and I think I won't back out this time

I've got an extra 175hp pump now

A few hundred extra rpm's that are pulling hard would really help pulling my trailer and rig

Put a 4k in, you won't even recognize it. Ya it's a little intimidating looking in the governor housing. If you have a digital micrometer, measure the stud protrusion on both Flyweights before you take anything apart. And set it back to the same when you reinstall the retainer. Counting clicks is a little sketchy. When they get lighter as you get to the top. Do one at a time. Don't drop any shims off the bottom of the springs. Use a long slim flathead as a guide. And a magnet works good.

Don't rush. Do one at a time start to finish. Then bar it over and do the other one.

I've got the 4k kit from pac brake

Do you do it from the side or the top?

I read about using a cut up can to make a tube around the spring so you can't drop anything

Are the shims under the spring seats?

It looks like the outer spring stays

What do you use to rotate the engine?

Whats your opinion about a grid heater delete?

I've never used anything but my long screwdriver a hooked pick and magnet

Mmm. There should be 3 springs total for a 4k kit. The 3k kit only uses 2 springs.

The alternator nut.

You're in Florida? ..... Delete it if you want. It doesn't hurt anything to be in there though.

Set answers inline. Hope it works......

I'll be honest, I didn't know how well it would turn out, but you pulled it off :D looks sweet

I felt the same way, I wasn't sure if it was going to be too big

Looks much smaller and fit then other ones where they didn't cut it up

Thanks guys

My dad painted it, just flapper wheel the chrome then prime it, it's good primer and paint, top of the line stuff, my old painted bumper wsa previously chrome and was painted in the same method

My rear bumper I flapper wheeled and one stage painted it black and it didn't hold up that well, flakes off when I hit stuff with the bumper lol.

I think it would look much better with an aggressive tire like a 33 toyo

Time to start driving and saving, these probably have another 30k to go

Last two tanks, 15.5mpg and 17.4

the 17.4 being mainly high way

Thinking the injectors may be worn, I'd bet they are original, probably upgrade to a 5x.11 or maybe even just stock 215 5x.10's

Will be done with school at the end of the month so I'll do some maintenance and check for fuel leaks and such

Probably need to up the timing also

326k miles
