Project MULE - Expedition build on a 1991 1500 4x4 Suburban

It's like Chevy knew one day I would want to drill a 1.25" hole in the firewall and therefore gave me this.

a 1.5" diameter formed hole from factory with a pre-punched center. This is all part of the massive wiring job I am slowly trying to get around to.

I had picked up the Daystar Firewall boot.

I grabbed my Stepping drill bit that goes just upto 1.25". I first made a very small pilot hole and went back underneath to make sure that was the correct spot. It was. Aside from some insulation on the inside I didn't have to move anything out of the way.

The crescent shape is visible on the inside and the arrow points to the punched centered hole. This shot is near vertical.

Drilled from the outside and cleaned up the edges. I took some 100% clear silicone and applied it to the seal area where the body panel goes. to make sure it seals good. I then pulled it thru from inside to out. Done!:waytogo:

Sometimes I wish a drive home from Flag was that fast. I loved watching the scenery change in fast-motion! I never messed around at the cinders...was it cool?

Cinders are more for rails, quads and bikes but still all in all fun. We got some looks with having a burb on top of the cones. and definitely do it after it rained. the Cinders will be more compact. just the second day it was drying up and I was already having to fight it more.

Sweet build!

I didn't see it, though it's probably there.... What did you end up doing for the hvac blend door actuator tab? Mine's broke and looking for ideas. Thanks!

I did fix it but I am not sure if I posted it up. I had some small parts waterjet cut. I thought about producing them but they were a pain with out a TIG for the smaller stuff.

Sorry I've been so quite lately, I've been busy with the store front and getting family stuff taken care of. As much as I'd love to be buried elbow deep in modding the Mule, life takes over sometime.

But in other news. I may end up with a Military M116 Trailer and 3 pallets of 24 bolt H1 wheels tonight.

oh really?

Yeah, the guy is leaving the country so I am working out stupid deals and will become the largest 24 bolt H1 wheel dealer in the valley.... until they are all sold out. This will be a one time deal.

I am actually going to clean them up and offer them with all new O-rings and a schrader valve.

he also has 37x12.50x16.5 BFG Baja take offs some still have the little molding strings still on them.

here is one set.

those are actually the tires i plan on buying for my truck once she's running. i wonder if it'll be worth it to buy the wheels then have them re-centered vs buying re-centered ones from someone like TWF... let me know if you get those tires though.
