How easily did your gutters come off?

I'm worried some of my screws are stripped, but need to yank and paint mine.

Torx bit T15 and factory double sides sticky tape. Mine came off real easy, just take your time on peeling them off.

Scares me how little holds them on, considering the load my fully loaded ski rack must put on them!

Any tips on replacing the tape? Better product? Source for the factory stuff?

Let me know what product you find and HD.

I've seen some guys just take them off. I live in Utah so in rains very infrequently. What are the effects after taking them off?

1) left with holes
2) IMO it looks like a bald head without them and damn ugly.
3) See #2
4) No mounting for light bars and small roof racks
5) See #2
6) they do to an extent help direct water away from right into the cab.

It does sound like a lot of weight but keep in mind its all on the sheer strength of those little bolts. the weight of the rack is perpendicular to the angle of the bolt so[FONT=&quot] theoretically they can hold a lot.

I just plan on going to Home depot and finding black double sided tape. It need to be no more then 1/2" wide. and its really used as a seal so no water seeps between the gutter and the body and into the window.

Good luck at home depot. Most of what i've found it foam based.

Plus, i'd much rather order something from the comfort of my couch/office/desk/phone. :haha:

What I took off was foam based. If it was a simple 2 mil (or less) thick piece of dbl sided tape then it would not conform to the lines and irregularities of the body and not seal.

Got it. If that's the case, i may just use an adhesive or caulk to seal it up.

There is a 1/4-3/8" wide 3m tape that is grey i've bought at the hardware store recently. Couldn't have a white tape holding my alarm antenna to the windshield.

In general yes. The moonvisor will be a flat black. the bottom black trim will be smooth rolled bedliner for lower brush protection. the roof itself if you were to look down on it will actually be white elastomeric roof coating. This will drop the temps in the interior dramatically.

In the Arizona summer sun you do what ever you can to keep from bursting into flames!:haha:

Between the roof coating and the top tier Llumar window tint means the A/C wont have to work as hard which in turns save the motor, less chance of overheating and help keep what ever mileage I have on it..up!

This is generally how it will look when done.

One step closer. Every little bit.:woot:

i wanna see that installed on the suburban. i like flat black hoods (learned that from a friend's land rover) but i'm not sure if i'd want the black to extend over the front edge of the hood or stop behind the hood ornament. its purely an aesthetic thing as far as the front edge is concerned, just havent seen it done the way you did yours so i'd like to see it to help me decide.

Yeah, I thought about that after the fact and went "Hmmm, maybe I should have thought about it a bit more" and after thinking about it, IMO it would'nt look right ending before the hood ornament because there are no lines to follow.

I know exactly what you are talking about on the Land rovers, and they have a contour line that would've ended before the hood ornament. I don't think this will be too bad as its going into a black grill

the stuff we use around here is this

I did the same on my Cherokee. to give you an idea of the amount of heat it reflects. I have two bolts that went thru the roof to hold some radio equipment. those bolt head were exposed to the sun and you could never touch the hardware or the brackets on the inside during the summer as it was a big heatsink. AFTER the coating you could grab the brackets and they were interior cab temps.
