Project OVERKILL - Ppump 24v Fummins swap started

Hmm, I just stumbled on to this thread.

One thing I have to ask: why use the 47RH (Ready to Hatch)? The reason I ask is that your truck already has a 4L80E behind the 454, and with the proper engine plate, a standalone controller, and a build (which the 47RH would also need) you would be set. The '80E even has a good t-case behind it already...

That's just my view though. Having been inside both a 47RH and a 4L80E I have no doubts in my mind which one I would use given the choice between them...

Max, not sure where you got the idea my dually has a 4L80e?!? see my sig....I have a nv4500 behind the 7.4

I for one have never been inside either, I only know the aftermarket is overflowing with dodge auto billet and upgrade stuff. I have a valvebody and triple disk billet torque converter from Gorend Brothers. and my 47 is being rebuild right now. I don't plan to make enough power to need billet shafts for it. but I don't think the 4l80e has the same aftermarket support that the dodge stuff does. its just not there. I am useing the GM HD241 for the truck and I'm swapping in the dodge input shaft from the dodge LD241 that came with the donor '95.

I'm doing ok. beside the tranny adapter is about really expensive the standalone controller is really expensive.

I didn't even see that :doah:

All that stuff is available for the 80E as well. Triple disk TC, 300M shafts, you name it. That stuff usually isn't needed though (well, except maybe the multi-disk TC). The 80E input shaft alone is bigger than the 47RH's (it's bigger than the TH400 as well). The 80E's planet carriers are cast steel rather than aluminum, and the straight cut 85E gears are stronger still and relatively inexpensive. With a simple shift kit and a good controller it shifts better too.

Anyway, just something to consider when you spit the 47RH out :p: :D

And hey, at least it's not a Ford E4DOA :doah: :haha:

hammered the rims and tires on tonight. night time pics suck but it'll do for now. It's 100.5 " wide...........I think some vehicles shoot for that as a wheelbase :gulp: forgot to bring the centercaps so shes bare for now.

Why did you go with the smaller 32" tires insteard of the 36-37s you had originally planned on using? Are you still lifting it?

Those Alcoas look sweet as hell. Nice build.

mainly because the 4wd shop i ordered my lift kit through decided to jerk me around for a month, so I made a snap decision to go with the low pro look.

They tidy up pretty good with the covers.......have to get different ones for the rears my dish is not quite deep enough. off to Peterbilt tommorrow

Since I can't leave anything alone for 5 minutes....... Heres the Import shredders.

still looking for the correct cover and caps for the rear though

I did some deeper tranny research too.......everything you mentioned before is upgraded at goerend and probably others too......5 pinion steel od planetaries and billet band struts, and custom parts for better oiling and some other stuff......

standard transmission trucks are not fast enough, you loose boost every shift. you cannot shift a nv4500 fast in any way shape or form. I put down 606 rwhp in my '98.5 dodge with the stick i got beat by lesser trucks with autos all too often. I walked away from many a sporty car on the top end, but light to light was embarrassing. No its time for a built auto.

Hmm, and here I thought this was going to be mainly a tow rig/working truck - silly me  :haha:
