Project OVERKILL - Ppump 24v Fummins swap started

Noob question here: What does it mean to "shave" a wheel?

this is the beadseat profile of any aluminum 22.5 or 24.5 rim. you see the need to adjust it to sit 22.0 or 24.0" LT tires.

I thought you were done with the shaving the wheels thing.
Why not keep it on the cheaper commercial tires?

actually now that I've looked at it again. I'm not 100% convinced I'm shaving. Like anything else I do, it'll be a decision when I buy something...... even then its not in stone :doah:

You'll have to come to some diesel drags at Castrol raceway. or theres sledpulling in the summer all over.

Yes. I know guys with that tire. one guy has a set on his welding truck.

Truck will weigh 10,000lbs with a metric boatload of horsepower. Not expecting much from any tire. and they're way cheaper than any other in that size.

I disagree. I don't think they look like a thornbird at all. Just because they have side lugs? Ya I don't think so. get a couple pics of the treads side by side and get a look. You'll see.
Eh, to me it's the big tread. Sorta boggerish but at the same time seems like more lug than void like a 'turd.

You know what they say about opinions though.:dunno:
I don't even own a set of mud terrains or a truck that weighs more than 4000lbs anymore.:doah:

Its not supposed to be an aggressive M/T tire. the point of them is to be more all terrain and work on big modern trucks. Interco was missing the market on big modern diesels, and this was invented so they could get their market share.

Well, that was a given I thought! Can't wait to meet you and all the other Alberta CK5ers...

Well, having looked at the tread on their website again I can see what you mean. Definitely more void space between the tread lugs than the 'turd has.
Some more siping would be good though.

Brown dropped off some goodies this AM so a quick mock up was in order. Need to machine the rims yet. before they'll go all the way on the adapters. but you get the idea.

:doah: Gonna have to put in for some more Overtime.

I've seen what we pay for the big knobby Michelins and Goodyears so oy...ouch...and you're in Canadia too...

I've actually eyed the Nitto trail grapplers up at discount tire in the states. the 38/13.50r24 would do me pretty good. and less money than the M16s even.

Those 40" m16s have got to be in the $700 each range... And you gotta buy six! $4200 ish I guess!

Lol the 40" M16s are $1200..... each. at either of my local 4wd shops. I've opted to leave them 24.5" for commercial rubber. 285/75r24.5 it is.
