Project "RESPAWN" - 1972 K5 Blazer

Cool stuff here!
Interesting....

Does it get worse or go away or change frequency or anything with RPM changes? Does it change in gear vs neutral/park?

Did you try the broom handle yet to pinpoint the location?

Haven't tried that but will hopefully this weekend.

The sound is very consistent and sounds almost like tiny pebbles moving around in a drum. The noise sounds a "little" quieter with the cover off but not much.
Sounds like the converter let loose and metal is floating around. If so your trans is possibly toast too. Had the same in my 67 impala.

The broom stick could work, I also use my largest craftsman screwdriver. Test different options, I think I usually find I get the best sound holding it up to the skull just behind my ear. I've isolated a lot of accessory bearing issues this way. I knew what was likely usually but when you can listen to the alternator, then listen to an idler it is nice when you know for sure where the problem is before randomly swapping parts.

Took the hardtop off today, don't think it's ever coming down, 11 feet up! I had to replace the light bulb socket with an outlet and add a LED light because the old one was dead center of where the top ended up.

You wouldn't believe the hassle I had to go through to get these! @Shawn and I had to do some research as he is looking at plates for his T-bucket as well.

Fist off, there was nothing on the Colorado DMV website about the 5 year collector plates being available as personalized plates, the normal plates yes but not the collector plates. Ended up calling the DMV and they told me to mail in an application that was online, so dropped that in the mail. About a month later my neighbor comes over and gives me a letter that was delivered to his house for me, so I almost didn't even get it, it was about my plate application, the letter said I had to call and set up a meeting at the DMV and they don't do mail in.

So I then scheduled an appointment for 4 weeks later to come in and talk to the DMV where the clerk told me that dashes dots etc. are not allowed on personalized plates. I mentioned that I have seen "."s on plates before so I kept on pushing her, she finally then inputs CK5.COM into her system to prove me wrong... then with a quizzical look on her face she reply's, wow you are right it accepted it.

The DMV requires an additional selection in case the review board refuses CK5.COM, so I had to pick another lame idea and just hope CK5.COM was accepted by their review people. They also told me it would be around 2.5 months due to covid etc.. Then 3 days after my in person appointment with them they closed down all in person appointments due to covid, so I just made it before they shut down. Fast forward about 4 months later they came in. So worth it!

Why does it only have 21 on it?
Because my old plates are also 5 year plates that I got in 2016, I will have to renew in June for another 5 years. When you get personalized plates they don't start from when you get them rather when your old ones expire.

I didn't know that.

Cool license plate!...neat that you can even get such a thing..

I guess DMV's and RMV's all over the country are about the same deal..jerk you around as long as possible, employees that don't even know the laws (most cops dont either!),and they make you jump thru a lot of hoops before they'll allow you to be relieved of a ridiculous amount of money just to get a licence renewed, that probably costs them $1 to process..

It only took me from Dec.23rd when I was shot down at the RMV to renew my licence, until Feb.3rd,when I finally scored another appointment online to go back again and hopefully get it over with..

I had to send away to my hometown for a new "official birth certificate",which took 2+ weeks, cost me $10,and then when I went to book another appointment in mid January,I was frustrated to see nearly the entire month was "unavailable"...not "already taken"--it seemed to me they closed down most of the RMV's the week the Inaguration was to go on ,all the way until the end of the month..

I can only imagine how long it would have taken,if I didn't have a computer to process an online appointment..(they NEVER aswer their phone, never mind during a pandemic)...

I was very relieved to walk in the RMV that wednesday morning at 10 am,have my number called up before I even entered the room to be waited on,and the woman never said boo about anything--so neither did I--she just took the birth certificate and inserted it into some kind of scanner, processed my "temporary" licence, and I was out the door by 10:05 am..my "real" license arrived in my mailbox on Feb.9th..!

I don't plan of doing any more RMV business at least until "covid restrictions" no longer apply...the hassle to get my '81 van back on the road after sitting since 2003 may prove difficult,if it has been "deleted" from their records, despite my owning it since 1990 and having every old registration since then up until 2003...it can be done, but of course they wont make it "easy"..

I have yet to use it but in CA it is a big thing if the reg is expired, but there is a DMV thing where if the vehicle is over 25 years old you can claim you are a collector and to get it registered you just need to pay the current year reg and maybe 1 year back reg. but most DMV workers don't know about it I know people who have done it and had to have the local DMV call headquarters in Sac and they said "Nope" but then they referenced the specific code and the DMV people were shocked and gave it to him.
