Project Smoke Wagon

1984 GMC Jimmy 383 Stroker | SM466
New exhaust coming this week or next. True duals. Flow masters. Just need to set up the appointment to get it there. Might need my uncle to take it over as I don’t have a way to drop it off at the shop in the mornings.

but it shifts like butter and doesn’t jump out of any gears.

I’m going to try and start making a video series. I have all the equipment and ability to make some decent videos. Wish I had more time to sit and edit. I’d rather be working on the damn thing than video taping it lol

@Bent77 so far I would say that the liquid Teflon is working. What conditions could I recreate for the situation you were in?

I had about 800 miles on it and was crawling when it popped out of 2nd gear

Drive it normal, change the case oil at 500 miles.

If it looks like anti seize (or NIC as @NorCal69 calls it Not In Can), then power shift it several times and keep whatever doesn't break...

I thought it would be noisier. Wasn’t expecting it to be so quiet. I didn’t put the mass pad back on the truck floor either.

Man, took it out on a nice little drive around our river banks.

got back and my brand new power steering pump is whining. Fluid on the garage floor. Is there a power steering pump out there that is bullet proof? I do not want to have to take the pulley off again. I want a nice unit that won’t blow up after a short drive. Could it be spinning to fast and over working the pump? Should I try a larger pulley? Just find it really weird.

Possibly air in the system? When I put the new pump on I jacked the front end up and slowly turned the wheels left and right with the motor NOT running. As the fluid went down I added more. When it no longer went down I then started the motor for a short period and turned the wheel left and right. Shut it off and topped it off until it no longer went down. I thought this was the correct procedure. Has new lines so I’m stumped.

Hope it didn’t just torch this pump. Getting that thing on and off isn’t fun.

Just re-bled the system and it seems to be holding up now. I didn’t turn the wheel lock-to-lock this time which I might have done last time. Seems to be alright now.

Found an old CB radio I pulled out of a car when I was a teenager. Never knew if it worked or not. Pulled it out and hooked it to the battery and it fired right up. Old radio Shack TRC-443 made in the USA

40 channels or 23? That would give you an idea of the age.
