You had the answer right there in your statement.no for some reason my iPhone would never backup.

Do you have the little car yet?Diesel swap? I’m thinking I want to yank this 383 and stuff it in a tiny car. Wouldn’t mind having a diesel or possibly ls swap in the Jimmy. Hmmmm talk me out/in to it?

I'm a fan of if it ain't broke don't fix it, but it's your ride not mine. Do a little soul searching on the diesel and LS swap pros and cons. You'd be surprised what you see. Neither is cheap, and have different requirements that cause the expense to go up.
Pulling a well running small block to do the swap wouldn't be high on my list.
You had me at Nova. Still have my first car which is a '69 Nova bought from the original owner.there is a 68 nova for sale I got my eye on. It’s pretty clean and rust free in the desert with a title no motor. Really itching to get it. Nova was my first real car. I had a 73 I rebuilt the 350 and put a 5 speed in it. 17 years old The original owner of the car new from factory contacted me by chasing the vin down and I couldn’t not sell it to the guy. Plus I was younger and cars were way cheaper then.
I really want to be able to take this Jimmy on long trips. It’s not going to happen with this motor 10mpg if I am lucky.
either LS or 6.2 diesel.
I’d like to buy a block and just build on it over the winter. But not sure what route I want to take. Diesel I’d probably have to get a new fuel system I would imagine.
Sure would be bitchin with a CTD in it though.
I do want to get an NV4500 as well.
I had a line on a LS not long ago but didn’t want the burden of storing a junk car.
Big time goal is to get this build extremely reliable so I can make the strip to my dads with it in Lake Havasu which is 1300 miles one way. That way I could make it to Blazer Bash if that’s still a thing

As far as getting stellar fuel economy with the K5, diesel is about the only way. Even a LS is going to require some tricks. I've seen as high as 16mpg on trips but I also was keeping it at 65 or under. It wasn't consistent and greatly dependent on the wind or grade.
Well, I’m sad to say that I sold her. I need the funds to cushion the move and allow me some time to get find a home and a really great paying job in Havasu. I’ll be on the lookout for another project to build up in a year or so. Passing the torch to a very excited guy who purchased it from me.
