Project Snow Bear K20!

Located a set of 2005 aluminum wheels with roller tires today. I'll go pick them up Monday.

So for good measure, here is a short cost breakdown on the parts for the install of the ford front axle so far.

Front super 60 complete--300.00 salvage yard
Radius arm kit Ruff stuff off-road----499.00
Coil over mount ". ". ". ---- 39.00
Frame outrigger. " ' " ". ---- 69.00
Coil over shocks----- undetermined
Track bar bracket------undetermined
Coil over spring hoops-----undetermined

Now then, I think it would be absolutely possibly to use the stock arms. Fabricate a rear bracket on the Chevy frame and rock on. Now I am certain that it won't flex for crap. So if someone coming behind me wanted to get this done cheaper, that's what I would do. I don't but you might.

I am looking a coil overs now but honestly until the axle is under the truck with some sort of established ride height there is no way to know what to order. The track bar bracket will likely have to be fabricated once I know what I am dealing with there. Not a big deal but I figured I would include it. Shock hoops and crossover bar will come from ORD most likely.

I'll be using hydroboost from my donor truck outside and I need to start thinking about a dual disc master cylinder. I'm going to start focusing my efforts on the suspension. That's going to be the difficult part to get together. The drivetrain is simple enough. First thing is to get the rear End out and the new one in. I have the lift kit and axles for sale so I need to get all that removed anyway.

I'm running a disc/disc MC for a 1983 Chevy P30 step van with diesel and rear discs and hydroboost on my '83 K5 with discs all around. It bolts right up to my hydroboost and lines. Piston is larger. It's almost too much on icy roads with mine. I like a stiff pedal but it doesn't give much travel til full on with the larger piston. I have a disc/disc prop valve from summit and still had to add a manual one that is turned almost all the way off for my rear circuit. When I moved to Idaho last winter I had issues with the rears locking and me going in circles into the ditch. The MC has the large all aluminum res too. I bet it might work good with the large dual piston calipers on those axles.

I may have just struck a little more gold. Found an NV4500 rebuilt and complete with transfer case for 500 bucks. Pretty sure I'm gonna go pick it up tomorrow. So whichever engine I FINALLY decide to use, it will have a OD behind it. I keep telling myself that an LS engine would be sooo much better for the build but that little diesel is just sitting out there staring at me....

Sell the diesel to pay for the 5.3

I have decided to let the GODS decide it.....LMAO. I have both up for sale, whichever one sells first I will use the other. Honestly at this point I could go either way and I obviously can't decide. I have a while before it gets to the point of making the decision as I'm getting suspension parts ordered and shipped first. Then fab work to get all that in place. The only thing I am certain of is that I will be using a ford NP 205 to get my drop on the drivers side and run my PTO rear winch. Now with the newly acquired NV4500, that's a done deal so the engine is still up in the air.

That's a GREAT deal on a rebuilt NV4500, you are on a roll with your good finds.

It's kind of what I do. I've been at this for a LONG time. In most instances I know a person or place to find most anything. In this case I called a guy who knew a guy...LOL Driving 2.5 hours to pick it up tomorrow. On another note I will have a stock 241 transfer case for sale...I won't be needing it.

What kind of service bed is that? Can you still fit a 4x8 sheet of ply wood in the center?
