Project Tetanus

89 K5 37s H1s 465 swap 241c sye Tub swap rust free
Its a Braden ec4-1. Serial number says built in 1975. Took it all apart, sandblasted alot of stuff and going back together now waiting on some seals and bearings for the worm gear shaft. Insides looked pretty good considering.

Not perfect but should work for another 20yrs or so. Just need to clean up motor and find a controller, respool it, (cable is good for now) fab some type of cover for solenoids. Get new rollerfairlead and build a bumper.

Took it on a camping trip as well. Been finding all these "vintage" camping things lately. Coleman cooler just like the one we used growing up made 2/79. And the colman stove from early 70s and lantern of same era. Also got the canoe on top. Had to keep a 2 step ladder with me to get it off and on.

Been working on a bumper, first rendition was way too tall. Dropped it down alot and tacked it together. Have a ways to go.

Front bumper isnt done yet. Not sure I like it so decided to let it be for awhile before I screw it up. Started on rear. Still aways to go but progress.
The problem with the blazers is the tailgate is so thick that if you keep the bumper high and tight it will hit it when down. After messing with the brackets got it to clear. First couple of tries stuck out waaay too far.

Wanted to keep tail lights unobstructed. Also made some plates to be able to bolt the brackets on as the inside of the frame is un accessible. Tack welded them in place.

Took a couple of tries to get the tire just right. Needed to be high so I dont drag it, off to the driverside so I can see at least a little when backing up. And then also be able to use the rearview mirror. Then jerry cans and hi lift mounts.
Still has no latch just rests on delrin or plastic/rubberish bumper thing I bought. It moves some but will see once it gets clamped down.
Open to suggestions on how to secure and lock jerry cans.

where you at? Im in kzoo.

Rear bumper is looking good!
I bet the spare is a bit of a struggle to get up there with a steel H1 wheel.

Thanks. Yeah I am not 25 anymore plus the spare has the rubber runflat in it as well. It is all I can do to get it up there. Was originally going to do a drop down actuator type thing. But I am afraid all the joints/pivoting connections to make it work would cause the whole assembly to viberate and flop around. I hope to not need it.
