Purple K5 resurrection "USA Built"

I'm going to wellsville with some local buds..
I'd like to go out there with 6.2 and Buford!:wink1:

We are wanting to head up that way sometime this summer. I'll let you know if we get a date set up. We are both heading out to a buddy's place this weekend for our annual club picnic and I can't wait. With rain we are expecting most of it will be "put your foot to the floor and hold on".

wow, never seen that done before. Now if i could convert a 10 bolt or light duty 44 into a 5x5 bolt pattern lol. Keep my 83 5 lugger and make it a 4x4! lol.

Looking good.

I don't mind at all a simple fender with rust or whatever, things easily replaced, but when it's deep in the body structure......anger sets in :doah:

haha man your lucky livin in so cal, you come to kentucky indian ohio and places like that, its hard to find a truck with no rust deep down in the body structure lol:D

It's common for the jeep guys to convert a chevy d44 front to 5 lug..on the older cj driverside drop jeeps. I don't think I've seen it done on a K5..

There used to be a lifted 5 lug Suburban here in town, IIRC, it was also the ford hub/rear 9inch setup. My question is why? Wouldn't it be easier to swap in a 14bolt 6lug and call it done?

I have 2 12b's and had a chance at a 14 sf...

*Wheels (5 lug has more options)
*9" will score more points..they look cleaner.
*More gear/locker/combo/brakes mods available
*STRONGER big bearing axles smoke a 14bsf's set-up.
*USED parts I'm trying to score a 3rd with a locker/4.56's.
*I'm a ford lover. (don't let the secret out, my first car was a torino)

The 9 inch is installed...while cleaning the axle, I noticed I have a track lock with 3.00 gear. Anouther good thing about the 9 is..I can use the carrier...one size fits all! :woot:

Here's a 12b next to the 9...the 9's about an inch wider.

The d44 from the original purple k5 installed, 6" Tuff Country lift springs, ORD greaseable rear shackles..also hand-me-downs.

Now...time to pressure wash, pull the tub! :D

I've been workin' on k5 bodys for 25 years...this is the first time I found a floor to weld to. GM sheet metal has been waiting since 2003...time to knock the dust off.

Plasma helps save some time with quarter removal.

Not to hijack but, where is Norton, Ohio? If it is just north of Delaware on 23, I drive by your place twice a day.

Hijack off..

Take more pix of the quarter removal - install...would love to have some reference pix to work from.

I'll have some more pics..
I need to sandblast, expoxy, before I start the install.

The quarters are very simple to remove...remove the bolts, cut the quarters along the B pillar and inside bed, as picured, the cut the tailgate pillar...the panel falls off.

Yep, I live about 15 west of sunbury in Delaware. I work in Upper Sandusky and drive past a little place called Norton about 10 miles north of Delaware.
