Pzuzu The Isuzu Build (RIP)

Just got home, did the FPR, fuel filter, and o2 sensor and it fixed it. I really think it was the FPR but it was raining and I was to lazy to take it for a ride between fixes.

It drives much better, has more power all across the board, and revs up great now. Im quite happy and pretty confident in the thing now.

Im gonna have to check this on mine. Mine when taking off first thing the rpms drop and it falls flat then kinda works through it and is fine. As long as I dont turn it off it will be fine, but as soon as we shut it off then get back in to go somewhere it does the same thing again. I did o2, map, tps, cats, egr, and still no go. I changed those things to so I can pass California's damn smog. can you take a quick pic of the fpr?

Well the FPR is on a 94 trooper. Nothing like the FPR in a blazer/truck with TBI. Thats gonna be internal in the back of the throttle body where the fuel comes into it.

yep, I have a 95 trooper, thats why I asked but I didnt make that clear. I posted a hijack photo in your thread awhile ago.

Ah that makes sense now lol. Its easy to find, at least on a SOHC motor cause thats all I know. It looks like a vacuum advance bell from a dizzy but its attached to the fuel rail at the drives front area of the motor. Its at the edge of the corner of the upper intake manifold.

I had to detach a few small coolant crossover hoses and unbolt the coil pack bracket and was able to sneak it out without any deconstruction of the motor. 15/16ths wrench to pop it off the line, a T27 to take the bolt off the fuel rail.

Dont miss the o ring on the input line either!

Didnt feel good this morning but managed to get something done. I made the lexan wind deflector pieces for the angled front of the roof rack. I also moved the spare tire to the roof rack and removed the spare hanger from the rear gate. Its really nice having my entire rear window to see through.

I plan on replacing the spare on the rear door with a jerry can and cooler holder that wont obstruct the view from the window. I also want to build a trapezoidal rear ladder on the small rear door.

I started making the rear side body mounts. Templated out a couple pieces to cut up with the torch at work tomorrow. Im gonna go get the basis to start making my rear bumper tomorrow during lunch. The whole things gonna be built off of 3x4 piece of box tube and angles built off of that. Typical plate style

Im also ordering the 33s tomorrow! They should be here tues or wed.

So heres a teaser of the tires. I ordered them today and didnt expect them to get to work from our supplier until tomorrow but 3pm rolled around and the delivery van pulled up...

$1170 to the shop for 5. All the car guys at work were laughing at me for spending $238 on a full size spare, little do they know.

So $1170 for 5 tires, plus $100 mail in rebate for joining tread lightly ( so really $75 after the cost to join) and then another $40 back from goodyear. So I got 5 tires to me for $1055 said and done, f'ing expensive tires are now...

White letters will be in.

Heres a shot of the tread. I honestly think these tires will out perform the first get BFG KM1s and the Goodyear MTRs. Theyre suppose to be amazing and still tame on road.

And the rear lift springs. 1996 J**p Grand Cherokee v8 front springs. Suppose to yield 3in of lift.

Buddy of mines got those tires on the same kinda rig you got the springs from.... Great tires!:thumb:

So I mounted the tires tonight. Holy crap those goodyears have the same super safety bead that the bfg ATs have. What a bitch getting them things on. I was beating the tire bar with a sledge to get it to jerk 1/2in at a time around the rim when I got to the last 10in...

For starters heres some reference pics of the 1in body lift and 28in stockers. Also a shot of the deflector on the roof rack.

Heres the best shots I could get at work when it got dark. I also snapped one under the street lamps in the parking lot across the street.

So thats stock suspension, 1 in body lift, and 285/75r16 which is a 33.2x11. Theyre on the stock 16x7 rims and fit perfect...

Im still going to lift the truck about 2 inches. I didnt have it in me to put the coils in and start messing with the torsion bars tonight. They rub up front just a tad at full lock.

Where's it rub?

Up front somewhere. Honestly didnt even look, I was tired from working then wrestling with those tires. Im gonna lift it regardless whether I could get it to not rub or not like it is.

For one the rear is sagged and I need to put new springs in and two theres no way I can get a solid axle in there with it so low.

Betting if you look it's rubbing on the frame. Stock rims plus taller, wider tires usually rubs the frame on IFS trucks.

On my Suzuki's they always rub to the rear of the front suspension on the side where tire rear of the tire kicks in on hard turns. Usually just been the edge of the tire scuffing the paint on the frame. Usually just a nicely shined buff.

Can't say I've seen a Isuzu though.

Sounds like plastic in the cab :D

The Goodyears look sweet on there man!

Where do you work... is that a 68/69 vette in the background?

You wont regret buying the duratrac i've installed many and every single customer i've talked to that has them is more than satisfied.

Could be. Mine makes this sorta "rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" noise as the BFG AT's tread lugs scuff the frame.

Its not just me is it? Theyre difficult to mount on an old style machine no?

72. I work at a classics shop, mainly mid year vettes.

Ill snap some photos today for you guys and post them in the lounge. Thw 1.1 million dollar 1 of 1 ZL1 camaro is in the shop right now. Its pimp and is the only ZL1 car with a chambered exhaust and it sounds like a beast.

agree

put a set on an 00 escalade i had, and loved the nuts off them. wouldnt hesitate to buy them again for a dd/wheeler.

Got the lift on today. Looks so much better.

The grand cherokee springs were 100% perfect at full height. Just cut the small coil winding that the jeep coil bucket uses and they fit like a glove.

Reference from this morning before work for heights in daylight pre lift.

On the highlift how I had my fingers crossed it would come out

With the rear springs in. Absolutely perfect height.

Stockers on the bottom, Front v8 grand cherokee springs on top.

It came out great. :woot: The truck sits exactly how I wanted it. The spare is in the back, Im ditching the roof mounted spare because lugging a 70lb tire off the roof every time I want to put the truck in my shop is not happening. As of right now I can just squeeze the truck in the with the garage door pulled open all the way with a strap.

Im gonna do some body mounts this weekend and hopefully start my rear bumper. Like I said Im ditching the roof rack spare so the bumper will incorporate a swing out carrier down the road. I want to try to mount the swing out low and as out of the way as possible of the rear window.
