Pzuzu The Isuzu Build (RIP)

Re-reading what you said you dont think the base material 1.5x1.5 1/8th wall is stout enough for the length of the swing out?
Replying to both in here:
The red line should go to the spindle, because the material you used isn't strong enough to take the length.
That will hold the tire better front to back.:thumb:

Alright Ill do that then and brace them together like a trac bar. How bad did I undercut the material here? Originally I felt what I used would be fine. But now Im agreeing with you. Starting to think that 2x2 3/16th would have been better for the arm and then used 2x2 1/8th for the other pieces.

Like you said if I do that with another cross bar Ill essentially cut the "sag" of the entire length in half w/ twice the material.

Or this

Second one would look much better

First, I think your cutting board idea is great! Nice work!

Second, I like your second idea best. I think it will be stronger than the first because while it does rely on good triangulation, I think that the long skinny rectangles will be of greater value to stiffening the form over the square/triangle method depicted in the first pic.

Yeah Im gonna go with that. I think the first pic while it may work would look stupid. I dont want to have that "I threw tube and triangulation at it jungle gym look".

Number 2 definitely.
It makes for a ladder bar style beam which is what you do to make a strong beam from smaller material.

I will embark on that tomorrow!

Thank you for the tips. Im completely open to constructive criticism on anything you guys think I could make better or more efficiently

So this is what I did today. Too dark to take pictures.

I went to wrap it all up for the day and found out a warped the bottom tube up about a 1/2in which is a big deal for my latch and stop for the gate... :doah:

Tomorrow Im gonna hit it with the torch at work and jump on it a few times :D Ill get her back in line.

Also thanks again iceman. Its amazingly rigid now and hardly wobbles now. Its more like just a vibration when you shake it.

Got it pretty damn close today. What a pain in the ass it was...

Think Im gonna build my ladder to the roof rack this weekend and add a vertical bar to the tire carrier for the tire to rub against.

that little thing gonna handle all this extra fab weight?:dunno:

Im skeptical about how much material I use for the bumpers on my BII because Its already got a small enough engine.

But its lookin sweet, i may totally steal your rear bumper design, just thought id letcha know:thumb:

Lol good question. My answer is, ugh, yes, sure, maybe :D

I havent really thought about it. I figure it cant be too big of a deal. Its made to carry cargo and 5 people. The rear bumper isnt super heavy. Maybe 80lbs.

Front will probable be 125-150lbs with the winch.

This truck has a 3.2L v6, a stick, and 4.56s. Think it was rated 200hp/205ftlbs and the motor is fairly tired but its not terribly under powered.

Motor wise Im planning on finding a sub 100,000 mile pull and then building a 3.2/3.5L hybrid for it. Either that or getting an earlier bellhousing and going to a 3.8L 60* v6 from a camaro.

Ahh i see, sounds. The BII has a 2.9 v6 so I gotta be careful as to how much weight I throw at it. No Idea what the gears are but im sure 3.somthing.

Get some pics of that tire carrier up DANGIT!!:D

Tomorrow I will. Just gotta weld up the relief cut I made and smooth some stuff out the repaint.

This is the rough idea for the ladder.

I would make an angle iron and delrin catch for it on the roof rack so its structurally sold when the gate is closed.

Btw do you have a build or photo album for this BII? Of all the ford products out there I really happen to like BIIs, them and notch back fox bodies.

The BroncoII is in the other rides section...

That bumper looks a helluva lot stronger than it was man. You do some nice work.

Are you guys getting snow down there today? My parents place in Sussex is getting whacked pretty hard right now

Yeah we're getting a very heavy wet snow on and off.

Was busy tearing the chevy down today. Took the motor out and sold the long block to my buddy. Im excited because now I can tear the front out and start narrowing and building it for the trooper :woot:
