Pzuzu The Isuzu Build (RIP)

So over the small rear door you would have to pull 2 more pins to open the whole tire carrier, then open the rear doors?

I was thinking pass side, but the driver side makes even more sence. I doubt you could even look out that window if you tried, at least not from the drivers seat.
The only other thing to consiter is keeping it fairly close to the body so it dont block too much of your driver door mirror.

LMFAO well ummmm....... your welcome.....

You know someone here is eventually going to push you for some sort of cage work anyway :haha:

So what's a "Super" 8.8"?

Just wondering. I had an Explorer 8.8" in the back of my Ranger with 4.56's, discs, 31 spline axles, and a Powertraxx NoSlip locker. Best money I ever spent on that thing.

Yep Like Chris said. It just eliminates the only bad part about the 8.8 and thats the c-clips. I was leaning towards a 9in but the lack of locker options and the super expensive drum in hate parking break kits pushed me away.

Then I saw an E-locker for the 8.8 was only $700 so why not :dunno:

Heres some upside down shots of what I got done.

Frame is finish capped on the bottom now, and got a couple more fish plates on.

I fully welded in my shock towers, panhard bracket, coil buckets and brackets, and steering box. Plus my radius arm brackets and full boxed them.

As you can see I also added weld washers to everything. Totally overkill for the application of my rig and kind of wheeling but eh why not...

All pictures are upside down if you're confused. I flipped the frame over with my buddy so I was doing unnecessary overhead.

Tuesday Im picking up two more wheels to put roller tires on. This week Im going to finish grinding my radius arms and probably take another pass on them with the welder at work. I need to pick up some poly tierod end boots and lots paint and hardware for the brackets on the front of the frame.

Then the steering box will go on for good, axle will be bolted in place, steering on, springs in, and the front suspension will be 90% done, just need bump stops.

Next week Im gonna take a trip to the junkyard for some 63/64in springs and an 8.8. The 8.8 wont be fully done for a while since I need like $2000 in parts between the super kit, e locker, 4.56, brakes, and such but im hoping to get the super kit soon so I can 6 lug it and get it fully rolling.

Is the 8.8 going to be wide enough?
Not to second guess you but if your going for 6 lug you could look for a fullsize jeep cherokee or wagoneer "narrow track". They would have either a d44 or a fullsize amc 20 and already be 6 lug. The cherokee I have is only slightly wider than my TJ but I havent actually measured it.

Also as far as 9" rears go. I have had several old (late 70's) lincon cars and all of them had disk brake 9" rears however they did have really tall gears. but that brings us back to converting to 6 lug.

The problem is I want a parking brake. That and Im pretty sure the wagoneer rear is offset no?

The 8.8 is the perfect width. 62in with the c clip eliminators.

the 9in low low pinion blows anyways. Plus you need a nodular third or it is just gonna crack.

8.8 ftw

So have you punched the guy that said "just build your own" in the nose yet? Wow I have to say it is looking awsome. When you get a chance can you take an overall pic of the frame? The detail pics are awsome but I want to see the whole thing. Pleeaassse.:D

+1 :waytogo:

Im gonna take some more shots when I get it flipped back over. I have to cut my front rad crossmember off and re-weld it on. I musta broken a tack when I started fully burning it in cause its about a 1/16th off square. I would just leave it since its not crucial but I know Ill be measuring things off it later...

Ah ok I asked about the width because I know the 8.8 is popular for wranglers. But they need 3/4" wheel spacers to be the same as the D35 people are replacing with the 8.8.

Going the super 8.8 is a good idea. The jeep guys seam to have good luck with the parts holding up to abuse and in the rare case they do break something, it sounds like superiors warantee is second to none. Does the C-elim kit make them a bit wider? I havent really looked into the 8.8 for my own jeep.

For some reason I was thinking a trooper is wider than a wrangler.

Ugh trooper is 61" or 63" stock. Im running 63". The 8.8 is like 59" stock and 61 and 3/8 with the c-clip eliminator.
