Questions about 454 swap

I am about to embark on this same trek; swap starts next month. I am swapping in a TBI 454 into my '91 v2500. Already running the BBC radiator with the stock fan shroud, so I believe I will be ok. Had the TBI rebuilt by SPR Performance and going to use the Edelbrock 3764 TBI intake. My cam is the Comp Cams 260AH and got a custom chip from Harris to support. I want to go with Doug Thorley's Tri-Y ceramic coated, but worried to on the overall fitment. May go with ceramic coated shorties like John's (nvrenuf).
You'll be a couple months ahead of me so I'll be curious to see your results. Do you have a build thread?

I was thinking about that same intake but I may go with a carb intake and use an adapter if I go TBI instead of Holley Sniper.

I am going to start one here soon. The heads get back from the machine shop next week and parts have started to arrive at the front door. I'll PM you mrk5 when I do so you can keep a tabs and prepare for yours!

Did some looking at mine today. Going to cross over and Y pipe to the drivers side. I'll run 3"" the rest of the way back, minimizing bends and turns, 45* out from under.

No way I would go smaller than 3" on a 350 as a single

Yeah I'm figuring 3.5".

Is a basic cam swap worth the trouble? Found lots of positive about this Summit cam https://m.summitracing.com/parts/sum-k1300. But then I wonder if I'm starting to chase the horsepower rabbit down the money hole.
Well it is out, and minimal investment. Maybe someone like @76zimmer can chime in on wether that is a good cam choice for your use. Doesnt effect the tune since you will be changing the chip anyway. Curious on its effectiveness with your CR

CR is low on these motors, like 8:1 I think.

We did do a compression test and all but 1 cylinder were 120psi. That 1 was 110psi. So I feel at least the cylinders are in good shape.

I would replace lifters and timing chain too. The lift is small enough I think the springs would be fine. It is one of those things I was thinking about purely because the motor is out.

The real question is, what are you doing with that lightly used 5.7 you have? I may have a project coming up that could use it.

Nothing concrete other than just storing it in case something comes up. If someone was willing to buy it, I would entertain offers. :D

Better get in there then...

Thinking you need 6-8 PSI just to equal it back to sea level. Another 6-8 for the low compression.
Really is the best solution for 8:1 compression.

Cheaper than heads I'll bet.
Plus you now have a buyer for one 5.7 and I'm sure someone would buy that wheezy mosquito killer
