Questions about 454 swap

Haha! That's why I wasn't planning to buy heads.

Bare

Lots of $$$ to get those up. Brodix for the win

I can't remember which gen motor you have but mixing blocks & heads from different gens gets tricky and in some cases won't work.

So is this just because a little standard cab, 6 lug truck made the the duck look slow?

And I understand your thoughts on keeping a decent budget, but I also know that there have been lots of guys who have been disappointed with the results of NOT putting enough into a combination. It ends up being a lot of work for a minimal gain. And quite often a big hit in the fuel consumption department too.
(Insult after the fact)

The elevation that we live in and around is a big factor.

Yeah I guess the Vortec heads will swap but more work than I want to do.

Dammit! You guys almost got me! Here I am looking at heads on Jegs, figuring out how I can swing $2000 for heads. Then I realized here I was chasing the horsepower rabbit down the money hole!

Remember, this is the boring motor swap.

Sometimes you have to settle for what you can afford. This is rock crawling not drag racing.

And its about fuel efficiency even if its big. The volumetric efficiency needs to be upped to properly utilize those cubes.

Heads.

Grunt...

I would keep using the peanut port heads. They're good for low rpm torque. You are not building a high RPM engine, are you?
