Here is mine rustoleum enamel and mineral spirits (only the red part, grey is factory and rust) no sanding, this is how it laid down. You can see the whole thread on here http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=276430

I kind of cheated, becuase I used a $75 harbor freight HVLP turbine sprayer (not a compressor! $75 includes the turbine!!) http://www.harborfreight.com/high-volume-low-pressure-spray-gun-kit-44677.html

Buying the sprayer allowed me to do the job with two $6 quart cans of rustoleum and i could put a coat down (all the way around the truck) in about 4 minutes (allow a day between coats. I started with rattle cans and one can didn't even put a solid coat on one quarter panel and it took 10 minutes plus just to empty the can. I would've needed 50 rattle cans that cost $3.5 each to get the coverage I got. With the money you save not buying rattle cans you can almost pay for the sprayer and turbine. After the ease of spraying with the sprayer I can't imagine doing an entire truck with individual cans.

Just have to say after going through this thread....if this thread doesn't capture the point of working on these trucks...I don't know what does. Great thread! Could be a coffee table book!:waytogo:

I've also contemplated waiting until I have the onboard air done, then I can just buy a spray gun and have at it lol

Here's my burb.:doah: Rattle canned the grey primer on. For the top I rolled on rustoleum flat black. I cut the rustoleum down a bit with mineral spirits.

Did this in a day, in the school parking lot. Turned out pretty good, only a couple runs which some sandpaper will fix.

grrr
I guess the type of dirt and slightly mountainest background should have given it away.
Nice burb, I like the two tone top.

Thanks. The black roof looks great compared to the grey. It's tempting to just roll on black everywhere but that would really bring out my wavy body panels. :doah:
