Found a pic from when I was doing mine, it may help

You can kind of see how/where I cut the centers out, I used the center opening of the back side /inner wheel as a guide for my plasma cutter and just followed the circle :D

Also not sure if you've already bought the parts but here is who I used, at the time they were a good bit cheaper.....I am more then happy with their product. I did use trailworthy for my inserts.

Thanks for the pics josh! Got 4 12 bolt h1's orderd from militaryoffroadtires.net only $32 a piece! Gonna be cutting out the centers and welding in the new ones with these

Plasma and a tig. Just gotta get a gas bottle and I'll be good to go!

Dang! $32 a piece? That's cheap cheap!
Yes cheapest place I found so far!:woot:
Actually they went up, I got mine from the same place about a year ago..... $25 a pop .
Damn I wish I had stumbled upon that site earlier:doah:
The shipping would probably kill it for me though.

Martin

Idk what the shipping is for me yet. They send it in a second invoice after purchase. I was a little apprehensive bout that but o well we shall see what happens. :dunno:

I did same as everyone else on my H1s. Used the outer rings as a guide to plasma cut out the old center and a little cleanup with a round grinding stone. Then just set the new center against the lip (max amount of backspacing) and tacked it in and measured it out for a consistent stitch weld and took my time doing each stitch going back and forth between all 4 wheels as to not put too much heat into any one at a time.

I can't remember for sure but I think shipping was in the $60-80 range for the 4. I ended up at around 40-50 a wheel delivered.

freakin shipping companys...

well i am finally going to be receiving the h1's tomorrow! :woot: apparently the shipping company "misplaced" them in Texas somewhere.... but after an hour on the phone on Saturday everything got straightened out. got a 1 ton tre steering kit on the way from ruffstuff. hopefully eliminate some of my steering play which is horrible at the moment. gonna be picking up an ORD engine crossmember from a fellow ck5 member this weekend too! and depending on tax returns i hope to be sending some money towards some PSC products. stay tuned as i will finally have some build updates!:waytogo:

H1's are here!!!!

H1's finally showed up!:woot: and i got myself a time line.:doah:

gonna be heading up to rausch creek for the weekend of march 15th.
here is what i plan to have done for the trip
1. H1's built and installed
2. Brake rebuilt on the winch
3. Ruffstuff steering parts installed
4. build traction bar setup

stuff that needs done but not before trip
1. new hubs
2. hydro assist

what i would like to finish before the end of the year.
1. roll cage
2. low range box or doubler
3. junkyard tbi

of course all this will be done as money allows.

recenters and pvc inserts are on the way and i have a good friend with access to a water jet so i will be having custom rock rings made for the h1's. hope to make some progress this weekend but for now its back into snow mode with another storm on the approach....:(

Ya, you got the mix and match colors too ! I figured it was just my luck when I got 4 wheels that were 3 different colors!

you should have seen how young the kid was that delivered them in a semi. looked like he was barely 16. he asked what they where for so that gave me an excuse to show him the blazer.... sitting in a corner buried in snow:dunno:

Are you going to run the current valve stems or change them? I found with my rock rings the 45* elbow some people use were gonna be a pita, I ended up drilling the holes round and using some big truck style valve stems approx 2" long brass or copper and I bent them to a 90* angle, they are easy to get to and are completely protected. I can take a pic if you want.
