I'm trying to figure out where to put shocks in the rear of my Blazer. The stock hole in the frame is boogered up (but not cracking) so I need an alternative. I considered inboarding them but that will force some exhaust rerouting. Any issues with going from the frame directly above the axle ( maybe a Ford shock bracket cut down and bolted flush to the frame? ) then down to the axle outboard of the springs? It seems like this would work alright and since it will put the shock at an angle it may help control body sway while driving.

That's good info about putting the upper mounts on the body, I saw some pics of an FJ40 recently done like that and I wondered how it would hold up. Probably ok on a truck bed because it's mounted solid, Blazer body movement would worry me though.
