Rear traction bar discussion.

I think when you order they don't always have the parts in stock. I've ran into this very scenario a time or two with them. Called them after 3-4 days and they told me each time they were waiting on parts to come in :dunno: parts are top notch other than that :waytogo:

I received an email that said it was backordered along with a confirmation number saying it was shipped?

Martin

There was a box at my house lat night. It contained just the top and bottom bars.

I've found that ruffstuff has great parts, but their customer service is a pain in the ass. I've been into their shop a couple times, and their lack of professionalism in the office annoys the hell out of me.

With that said, every time I've ordered or bought something from them, I've been really happy with the parts. I just wish they'd get some decent customer service.

Still waiting on everything besides the tho tubes.

Martin

Well at least it's not just me that this happens to :doah:

Colby, I've never been to their place but I agree, top notch product, not so much with customer service (shipping/ order status)

I called them today to check on the status of the rest of my parts.

They said they would call me back.

When should I stop waiting?

This is why I try to order from DIY4x as much as possible, never had an issue and I have ordered a ton of stuff. Kert is da man  I would give it another week, unless they have a legitimate reason. Then maybe 2 weeks

I was making a joke about when should I stop waiting for them to return my call.

Just the same, I called them again today. I was told they are waiting on some parts that are suppose to show up tomorrow. Said the rest of it should then ship tomorrow afternoon, or Wednesday. We'll see.

I like the part where it went from California, to Texas, and then back to California, all en route to Nebraska.....

Well it finally got here today, and I believe I have everything.

Sort of going back to Martin's bracket question...

Other than ground clearance, is there any reason not to use the laid back style of bracket and position the lower traction bar so that it's slightly lower than the driveshaft? (In hopes of objects hitting the bar before the driveshaft) :dunno:

I too was looking at mine on that very same idea. The only downfall is the lower you put the bracket, obviously its easier to drag. I planed on setting mine to where its just a touch higher than the bottom of the 14 bolts housing.

My other concern with a traction bar is I wonder if the traction bar and the driveshaft need to be at around the same angle, or will it bind when flexed?

Here is my post from my build thread, from when I actually put my traction bar together.

Silly Jeeps and their tiny axles.

The cross member I made. I should have used slightly heavier angle iron on the ends.

Yes I made that cut with a sawzall. Yeah, it was the way wrong angle.

The finished traction bar.
