I need to put a higher top gear in the truck. I want to be able to run it down the freeway at 75mph without winging the engine to the moon.

I looked at a Gear Venders OD. Wow. Must be gold plated. So, no.

Source a 2wd 700r4 and pray it lasts.

4l60e seems like a lot of work with a controller and whatnot for a week transmission.

Source a 2wd 4l80e. Controller would be worth the effort.

I have a near new rebuilt 4l80e. But it is 4wd. Controller still needed. Came with a 454. I don't have the time or desire to swap it to 2wd. Thinking of tossing the transfer case on it. Also gives me low range on the boat ramp.

In the future, if I keep the truck, it will get the LQ9. So the 4l80e would be the best option.

Discuss. And try not to derail to much.

I was going to suggest the 700 when we were on the phone earlier. Should hold up at that weight.

You could use this on the back of the 4wd 4L80E and use a manual valve body.

This is why I ask questions on this forum. Only issue with that is no speedo feed. GPS speedo would be OK with me.

But the transfer case is already sitting here. :thinking:

i have the 2wd tail shaft and housing for a 4L80-e and it was for a fixed yoke .

and they make 3.42 gears for the 14ff rear . and they made and might still find 3.21 gears .
