Even better. The owner sent me this link after I talked to him.

So, is it worth $1800 for wheels, $1100 for tires to do a couple of drag and drives each year and not have to run at the end of the day?

The truck is tuned for this diameter tire.

A locker will also be installed, either way.

I can run the hard tire class. But they run last each day. Because I can not drive at night any longer, I am not sure if I could wait until the end of the day to run.

I know. First world problems.

try driving with some yellow glasses and see if your night driving improves
It is the reflections from the tinted flat glass that does me in. I can not be in an area where multiple conversations are going on. Same thing with night driving. Too many sets of lights coming from different directions can confuse me quickly. I do not have a problem in my truck or Eileen's car. Other than I tire faster at night now.

They don't allow hard tires at Michigan Miles, you have to run drag radials or slicks. I'm not sure how many events are switching to that format, but the hard tires tear up the track.

I hadn't been able to find anyone that made custom 8x6.5 beadlocks, so thank you for the link. They come in any backspacing you can imagine so I should be able to find something that fits the back of the shop truck to stuff a bigger tire in there.

I need to correct myself on this. When I read the rules while I was doing the expression of interest, they hadn't posted the rules for Michigan Miles yet. You can run hard tires at the end of the day as Wade mentioned.
I guess it depends on the event whether they allow it, whichever rules I read before said they weren't allowed and neither were motorcycles. Both are allowed at Michigan Miles.

It’s only money, if it works better for you and what you are able to do to enjoy it it is worth it

Run last, stay local, drive next day, run last, repeat!

They like those drag slicks don't they...
I was pricing them last night, and D@MN.! $$$

Is there not a radial that you could run? They're doing 5's on 275s now, but the track prep has to be good. I'm currently running the 28x10.5 bracket drag radial hoosiers, but for 1/8 mile stuff I may go back to my 275s. Do you have to run a tall tire?

I would have to come up with a different tune for shorter tires. It already smokes the 32.5's that are on it. I can not get them to hook. Spins both sides. More tire patch will help. I am also trying to keep it simple. Show up, swap tires, do a pass, swap tires and leave. This is not a serious race vehicle.

Find a way to drop 500# over the rear tires.
Not enough to hurt ET much since not a dedicated race truck, but would help with the front to rear weight ratio and traction.
