RJFguitar's resto-mod - went offroad

Well, I finally scored the seats I have been wanting.

I had looked at 3 different sets of seats that I found on Craigslist, first was a set of black leathers out of an Acura, WAY too petite for a full size and they were in crappy shape. Second, a full set of seats out of an '02 Burb. The owner took pics of the seats at night, which made them look charcoal black, when I asked, owner said "yeah, they are super dark gray, basically black...." I get there and the seats are slate gray.:sign7:

Then there were these..... as they say, third time is the charm. Black leather buckets out of an early 2000's C class Mercedes.:pimp: They are in near perfect shape and hug me really well, which is what I was looking for. Something more sporty than the old blazer seats, but not to petite where they look goofy and are uncomfortable in a full size.

They are going to be pretty easy to adapt to my floorpan, and they are half power, half manual. I still don't have a plan on the rear seat, I doubt I could make the C class rear work because it's not an assembly, and it's 54" wide, but I am thinking that possibly a good apholstery guy could use the leather from it and do my stock blazer rear seat with the material.

Oh, and I talked the guy down to $200 for everything.
cough

Pretty much have the interior done at this point. I just have to dye the lap belts for the backseat. Couple more shots of the Mercedes Benz seats, and the more I drive and sit in them, the more I like them! One thing I am not liking is how easily black carpet looks dirty. Geesh.:doah:

I didn't realize how tall my Mega Cab is, with a 6" on 33's, it's damn near as tall as the K5.:doah:

Here is the stereo all finished. I was going to build two boxes, each to house a single 10" up against each quarter panel (that is why the wiring is there), but with that plan I still couldn't figure out where to put my amps that would keep them out of sight. I finally came up with this idea. Probably been done before, but I've never seen it before myself. I like it as it keeps the rear bed nice and tidy with no exposed wiring or equipment. The wiring comes up through the carpet between the amps. So far heat build up hasn't been a problem. The amp panel is bolted to the body and the sub box is screwed into the amp panel, should make it pretty hard to steal too.

I know you're here in the valley but I've never figured out where. We need to do a meet and greet sometime over some lunch so I can check out those comfy lookin' seats in person. :waytogo:

Thanks VERY much. The top is still behind my shop with moss growing on it. :doah: I will eventually paint it, simply because it's "part" of the truck, but I have full intentions to be one of the first customers to buy one of the new Skyler tops coming out this spring. If I really like their product, the hard top will likely never go back on.

After putting some miles on this K5 again, I forgot how bad it really is on gas, not to mention that it's a dog compared to my diesels I'm used to, even with the 406ci. I'm already thinking I might bring it down and change tire sizing.

Right now I'm thinking swap out my 6" lift for a 2.5" lift, and go with a Weld Outback (outbacks prefered) 16.5x12 on a 33x14.50 SSR. If I could score 17x12's that would be awesome but they are hard to come by.

Combine less lift and less rolling stock with 4.88 gears, more motor, and this K5 could turn into a quick little sucker and be REAL fun to drive.

Or a twin turbo common rail swap :D ................... Just sayin, it would be cool.
