RYOKEN HELP !!!!! My Dual Battery Install With Payoff pics (pics updated 2/18/08)

I guess I will make a ground wire tomorrow and run it from the open post to the body ground right below it. Or should I run it to the common battery ground farther down?

yup, you need the grd on the other small post... the slave isn't firing..

Did I go over soldering with ya?

Not sure how the insulation got burned. Your never putting the torch near the wire... except to maybe melt some splatter off the lug after you stick the wire in or if the cable is not tinned....

for those who haven't had the soldering tutoral..

put lug in vise facing up. strip wire. dryfit wire in lug, take a few strands off if needed.. slide shrink down wire. coat exposed, tinned wire with flux using a twisting motion. put small glob of flux in lug. heat bottom of lug, filling lug about 2/3 up with solder. keep solder liquid with heat to lug. stick wire in.. melt any dribbles.. pull shrink up and shrink...

That is what I tried but I did not remove any wires:doah:. I thought it would be bad to do that. I will try that with my charge wire when I make it. I have decided to run it this way and when I get signs of deterioration I will measure the cables and get some custom ones made up. I did not have a good morning yesterday and today my hands hurt because of it:o. I will get a ground on that slave when I get home and hopefully it will fire right off. Thanks for the help guys.

Well I added the ground wire and it tried to fire. I had my plug wires 1 off retarded so it would not fire:o. I moved everything over 1 and it fired right up. I am thinking of adding a toggle switch to the ground for the solenoid to act as a redneck form of theft deterent.

I also re-routed the wiring harness that runs infront of core support and put it behind the core support. I have not had a chance to Jcut anything yet so I have not mounted my LED signals. I have tie wrapped my yellow bulbs to the core support so I have turn signals:doah:.

I took it for a test drive since I have not driven it in almost 3 months and everything worked great. It appears that I have a sticky thermostat. The temp got up to just touching the red and wham it dropped down to about 170 and stayed there. Just one more thing for me to deal with:rolleyes:

Thanks for all the help.

How's this holding up? What's the model number on your batteries? Could you give me some dimensions so I know if they will fit in my JEG's battery trays

Everything is holding up great. I need to put a larger charge wire on it and I need to redo the cables since I had issues with the soldering so I crimped them.

I do not know the dimensions or the model number off the top of my head, but they are Exide Orbital Marine Deep Cycle. The blue top for the exide brand. Kragen sells them and the exide website has the dimensions. They should fit in you battery tray as they are a standard size battery I just can't remember the size code.
