Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Seems like I've been seeing a lot of mentions about people having trouble with MSD stuff lately.

I've had a MSD blaster coil in my ford for a couple years of DDing it with no issues. Though I have heard of numerous complaints though.

I had one of their TBI coils on my '92 Blazer K1500 fourteen years ago or so...just saying it seems like lately I keep hearing about stuff like this with MSD.:dunno:

I've never had an issue witrh MSD stuff, and love the pro billet dizzy's... this was the first coil from them I've run....

now, the CD boxes? I've definitely heard and seen issues over the year's with them cr@pping out occasionally...

Their LT1 Opti-sparks have a really bad reputation. I just picked up an MSD billet distributor, and I am not sure if I want to use it or not. It looks like a nice piece.

I've run the pro billet's a few times, and they are quality...

Mutt's running as awesome as that anemic BB TBI cam will allow... friggin thing is falling on it's face tho by 3500...

I really wanna do a gen 6 in there... gotta see how the finances go the rest of the yr...

the other thing for Mutt,, other than finishing the paintwork this summer, I REALLY need to do an antiwrap setup... bad...... :doah:

rides absolutely freakin awesome, even with the balsa stage out back, but boy, those soft 56's will wrap like Ice T if ya launch hard... :haha:

I will say... I definitely wanna get the rest of the rig in orange over the next 2 months.. it deserves it with the attention it gets..

being Muttly.....

thanks.. I just came in from giving it a bath.. I'll take better pics in the morn... and gasp, I dressed the KM2's!! :haha:

should look much better when I get the rest in orange... no tube bed, but still pretty cool compared to all the new ghey trucks running around... no offense to anyone.. :pimp:

:D

the thing I'm most psyched to see is it all painted with fresh lights/lens on the roof... :woot:

Wow...looks real nice and shiny...:waytogo:

Since I don't have anything to work on right now I washed an waxed the Ranger...because as soon as I get my Blazer back the Ranger will be back in the driveway under the oak tree that is spitting sap...and housing a big fat Robin that craps a gallon of white in one poop...

It will need that wax....:doah:

I haven't touched the Nason since shooting it, just washed.. it's held up perfect to the sun so far...

the bed is kinda ghey being wood, had to put a fresh coat of flat black to the top last week, as the wood was showing a bit from the
Sandy work.. but whatever, the rig's still eleventy times cooler than any new rig.. and every one of em on the road knows it too...

they get all sheepish around Mutt... :haha:

how long do you have to wait after paint to wax it the first time?

eh, that's all bs.. you can wax it after a couple days... ain't gonna hurt it.. technically, yes some are still offgassing for a bit.. but it's inconsequental...

it's a line used by body shops to keep you from looking closely at a fresh paint job for a while...

but to be an@l, I like to wait a couple weeks..

I got two 50 foot tall pin oaks over my driveway and they drop sap...I do not want sap on my fresh paint so...I will have to move quickly from the garage to the street :haha:

I've heard this from many different shops... :screwy:

that ya gotta wait 2 monthes to wax?

it's a paint manny recommendation to cover their butts... parroted by bodyshops who don't actually know of any consequences...

it doesn't do anything bad to put wax on..... oh my god, wax on new off-gassing paint, it's gonna bubble, crinkle and fall off...

I worked in the best rep collision shop in north jersey for almost 5 yr's, painted 2,000 cars and we would cut/buff/wax cars the NEXT day, and NEVER had an issue or comeback..

so I guess that makes me :screwy:
