Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

seems like an ideal time to wax it good with the best wax when all the trim is off...you can get wax on the entire surface

maybe this is an old hod-over from the days of lacquer and soft paints

yup and yup.. obviously it's not bad to wait, always best to let all bodywork materials dry as much as possible... fillers, primers, etc..

but over the yr's these things have changed.. catalyzed products are VASTLY different/better than the old air dried days of lacquer, Nitrostain, etc... shrinkage was ALWAYS an issue.. but for the most part hardened products are about 100% dry in 48 hr's..

I just get annoyed at myths being propagated when the people (bodyshops) are just repeating something without a real knowledge of it... like my boat customers "oh, I read a magazine article once"

anyway, enough bodyshop bashing.....

I'm looking to strip/prime and paint the 2 back doors next week hopefully, or maybe strip/prime the roof and back.....

It's funny I see this today. My MSD coil sh!t the bed today in rush hour traffic on my way to a staff meeting. I had to push that 3 ton piece of pig iron off to the side of the road while people were passing by cussing me out like I was skipping the gym to get my workout in traffic.

Thank god I had just dropped the girls off at their grandparents house and they weren't with me...that would have added to the stress 20 fold. :doah:

duly noted... stock coil for me from now on...

got to use 4 wheel today with Mutt.... had a couple junk cars at the marina buried in the weeds that we need to junk... so i hooked up a chain and dragged em out.. twas fun...

got a HUGE treestump/rootball from Sandy in my backyard I need to rip out this weekend too..

gonna hold off a bit on any K5 money expenditures.. got some projects to work on with the dash and all.. so the next rig funding will go to Mutt... and body supplies I need to finish the paint... mainly a gal of Ryoken Red.. but more importantly, back door weatherstrippings, etc and roof lights.... pretty sure I'm going with fresh new factory originals...

:haha:

I contemplated the smoked ones you had on the Furd, but I think i like the taller amber look on Mutt...

for as much as I'm chomping at the bit to get back on the K5, I feel I need to send a bit of luv to Mutt, it deserves it... and bodywork is fun and easy peezy...

:haha:

welll played... eh, you guys bend tube, you could handle it...

oh... one other thing...

I'm thinking of doing some custom 6" Alcans from ORD for the front..

tho the rig rides amazing, I'm not happy with how the 4" TC EZ-rides are settling and starting to waffle a bit.. which I attribute to the BB weight...

I'd like it to sit a bit stouter up front than the above pic... even it out with the back.. I could go for some 4" and EZ rate it, but I'm gonna call Stephen and see about some smooth 6" customs instead...

thanks, but those are not the correct style... they are no chrome, not as long... it's $100 for a set of 5...
