Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

thanks, and no crue.... :haha: when it was just the coffin, it was like 80 lbs or so.. pretty light.. I bet it's about double that now.. I'll get a better idea when the tube fitting is done, i'll engine hoist it off and put in the garage for final welding..

I ballparked that just the tube, when done, will be like 375ish.... add the boxes, plate, etc, and it'll go up exponentially..

but that's fine.. the more weight in the back, the better.... it needs it...

Will you be putting in a gooseneck and/or a fifth wheel hitch? If so, will your latest tube additions cause any interference with the trailer?

it's getting a gooseneck bolted to the frame over the axle... any interference should be pretty inconsequential.. it should be able to articulate just past 90 degrees... I'm not concerned about losing a few degrees over what a pickup bed might give ya...

just a quickie update from this morns work while I crack a Molson Ice....

chopped off the rear coffin points. welded in some crescent shaped pieces of tube and shaped em....

thanks boys... doesn't photo well... i'll try to get a couple other angles tomorrow.. I'm real happy with it...

and it'll still impale a Prius good..

well, maybe if it was parked on a loading dock! :haha:

realized I don't have a usable receiver hitch, I'll have to order a fab one this week.. but I started getting the lower "U" bent up...

That looks cool Paul. That's why I like builds like yours little details. It's the details that make thing go from awesome to more awesomer

thanks.... :D

here's the beginning of the rear bumper/receiver.....

once I get the new axle under it, I'll do the receiver and the tubes that angle forward to the underside of the frame... they'll be bolt-in...

tailgate up...

oh, I forgot to mention, when I get into the receiver and tubes, I'm more than likely adding a x-tube here... right below where the tubegate hangs to...

but before I continue in the back, I wanna get the axle/tires under it and work on the 1.5" box support tubes.. mainly cuz I need to check shackle clearance to that tube I just put in...
