Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Yeah sorry for the delay, CA DMV sucks.
WHat is really wierd too is that I recieved it on 5/12/12, but the title says 5/13/12 so when they mailed it it wasn't even valid?:dunno:
By the way I :whistle:paid $300 for the truck here in CA
So let me know what you will put for purchase price, don't go to much off that price, either below or above.:D
I haven't mailed the paperwork here so once you tell me your price I will mail it in.

I put 200 on the back...

White wheels > black wheels.

That's just my opinion though.

Martin

I did that look in the 80's, I'll leave it there...

I generally hate white ANYTHING on a vehicle... paint, interiors, toppers, rims, etc...

plus it wouldn't match anything, the bed will be black tube and alum plate...

fuel fill....

I think that filler and cap looks great...what did you spray that tank with?

Honestly, your attention to detail is nothing like I have ever seen before. Even on the wood bed, which is temporary, it looks awesome. I commend you on your effort.

thanks, just some 1/8 plate screwed to the backside of the 2x4... as simple as I could make it.....

it's duck blind paint on the gas tank.. same flat black that's on the bed... just brushed on... works real good at covering, hiding stuff, etc... it's like a black stain...

not very durable, but it's a good visual stopgap till parts can be blasted, coated properly, etc, or in the case of the fuel tank, be replaced with a custom one...

tho i did the frame in a satin, it's the same stuff i slathered on the axle... well, the tubes anyway, the cover is satin...

I did run a company called Attention to Detail... :haha:

thanks mang... :D for as much as I despise boats, I attribute a lot of my abilities , craftsmanship, etc to being a marine mechanic and glass guy...

I can't wait to get going on the tube bed and K9 mods...

well, that sucks.. trucks legal, etc..... took it for a ride...

it don't make d*ck for oil pressure.. I had hooked up a new AM oil pressure and water temp gauge so i would know what was going on.. thought it was pretty tappy when it got here.... can't imagine the motor is long for this world... I may drop the pan and throw a high volume pump at it and see if it helps....

looks like first priority may be a new mill.....

Well that blows. Glad you got the tags though. At least your drive to work is short. Maybe she'll hang around for a while:rolleyes:

Are you sure it's not a guage problem?
what do you mean it was tappy?
It was very smooth when I had it here.
What was the mileage when you got it?

Are you sure it's not a guage problem? shouldn't be.. it's a brand new autometer setup... it is electric, i grounded it and the gauge is good.. can't imagine it's a bad sending unit.. but i'm gonna hook up a manual tomorrow to verify...
what do you mean it was tappy? exactly that.. like it has a lifter tick.. been doing it since it arrived... not surprised with the oil i pulled out of it and the varnish on the rockers, etc...
It was very smooth when I had it here. the thing ran like complete sh*t when i got it... it still has a few drivability issues.....
What was the mileage when you got it? 129,938 on it now, after a few miles from me...

I'm driving it tomorrow... thankfully work is only 2 miles away.... it runs at 210 degrees too... which is a tad higher than i like to see, even with TBI... i may throw a new fan clutch, flush and therm at it over the weekend...

Well, the guy must have driven it then and not a couple of miles.
It had 29637 when it went on his trailer.
:eek1:

I find it hard to believe the guy would be driving it 300 miles with no taillights on it... i'm guessing you where transposing that 9 into a 6...

either way, it is, what it is, and I'll have to deal with it.... just was not planning on putting a new long block in.. we'll see what happens...

I am not transposing, and a CHP did the VIN verification one hour before the truck was picked up and has the odo reading on the paperwork.
And I know you must have driven it more than one mile, most likely 5 miles?
There is only one mile difference between now and when I left it.
The reason I am even talking about this and in public is because I know the engine was smooth and I told you that, and then you get something that is that messed up, I feel bad.
But I also can't do anything about it now that it's this far.
Last time I sold an engine to a member and it was messed up, I hadn't driven the engine so I don't feel as bad as now where I did drive it a couple of hundred miles to pick up and drop off parts, enough to know it was a good strong engine.
That pisses me off.
If you hadn't paid all that much for the shipping I would say you got the truck for the price of the axles, but add the cost of shipping now it's not such a great deal.:dunno:

Don't you have some merc 496 blocks hanging around? Problem solved ;)

the Mutt looks right at home in a marina.... ;)

it actually doesn't ride that horrible in the back... could use improvement for sure, but i was expecting MUCH worse with that spring pack in there....

When'd you paint the grill?

Any recourse with the shipper for the miles he put on it? That's a big WTF moment.

Love it man! That thing just LOOKS like it wants to work:waytogo:

thru some satin black on it the other night when I had it off to check out the electric fan....

eh, I'm really not sure what happened, but as I said, I find it highly unlikely the guy was driving it around with no taillights and such for 300 miles.... it was about 1 mile that i had put on it at the time of that post..

none of that's here nor there at this point.. the rig is mine to deal with...

this weekends agenda....

drop the pan, high volume oil pump going in...

than if I have time, belts and cooling system work and deal with the fuel tank plumbing......

Maybe if he was pulling a trailer

But either way, im curious to see what some work on it does for you. And it does look good with all them boats!
