Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

WOW!!! Haven't looked in here in a while. I DIG the crew cab Paul. Tube bed Looks AWESOME! You're NOT making it easy to get rid of my crewcab seeing this :doah:. I really do not want to AT ALL. Maybe I don't have to now  :D. Hehehe

with the black and aluminum on the bed that's gonna be one of the sweetest flat beds ive ever seen........ I can see it in my minds eye well and  so jealous

thanks mang... glad someone else see's it too... :haha:

I think the rims/meat/beef add's some great proportion to the tubebed.. :pimp:

stooopid thing is, I haven't even talked to the toolbox company yet.. I don't know if all 6 boxes are gonna be $1700, or $2900eleventynine smackers... :doah: :haha:

I'm hoping that it's gonna be 2500 or less...

Looks great.

Rear axle forward? Looks good where it is IMO.

The only thing I was going to say was I would like to see the front axle forward a touch. Not sure on the rear axle but I am sure you have good reason to do so.

So I need full resolution pics e mailed to me. Also can anyone lend me some time and a babysitter so I can get to work on mine :D

as I've mentioned, with the tubebed design, I'm running into possible mudflap issues... dragging on the meats... forward is good... throw in the queen mary turning radius too...

and yeah, I definitely wanna bump the front forward, so that just adds to the WB issue and another confirmation to move the back one up...

tho, I am going to get back to the tubebed now and get the lower 1.5" tubes done to confirm the mudflap deal... that will let me know how badly I need to move the axle..

I probably wont bump the front up till spring/summer when I'm driving it..

Makes me almost wish I owned a boat........

....so it could break.

....so I could call Ryoken

.....so that he could show up in this truck to fix it.

:D

Looks great Paul!

Do not....

I repeat, Do not send Eric pics. He will make you start over while it looks and works awesome.

Nice job, Paul. Lookin tough..

Good job getting it all done before the snow! Great timing. So, is it drivable again now? I mean all the suspension and drivetrain hooked back up?

nah... I could get it back up relatively quickly.. but I'm not gonna bother till march/april-ish..

main thing is I'm gonna temporarily run the ps saddle tank till I get my custom center one made later in the summer.. and I really don't want to install that just yet, to keep good access for the tubebed stuff/fab..

the other things it needs are the frame hardline and soft drop brake line for the rear redone.. rear shaft put back in (may need to shorten if I move the axle forward)

needs the back shocks done too... and a muffler.. tho that's kinda a secondary thing at this point..

Yeah, I knew you didn't plan on driving it until spring, but I was just curious from a practical standpoint how far away from being drivable it was.

It sure does look good though. :)

thanks man... :D

I'm just VERY glad to have it back as a roller... just looks better in front of the house.. the rig is actually reg'd and insured.. i'll do the lines and see about ordering a muffler, etc as time fit's over the winter... shocks I'll prolly do pretty soon, prolly around when I get the gooseneck plate in...

not that my neighbors would ever complain.. but I do rent, and the town does complain if ya have too much cr@p kicking around...

they actually complained to my landlord years ago about my yard looking like "Sanford & Son" :haha:

I thought that was kinda unprofessional...
do that today, and you'd be declared a racist!!! :haha:

for those that have driveline e-brakes.......

do you think the factory foot pedal could operate that with some efficiency?

I'm gonna need one at some point... I actually have the one on the 205 in the K5, including the flange.. think it's what I'd need for Mutt... thinking about cannibalizing it and starting to see what's needed to get it in...

but I REALLY want to use the factory pedal for fooling joysey sticker Nazi's..... even if I need to/can figure out a way to compound leverage the cable down below or something.. but I would think you could put a pretty good pull on that with the foot/leg..

thoughts?

Id think you could definitely use the factory lever. Depends on how much cable movement the driveline brake needs though.

Dont' see why it wouldnt' work.

Honestly, I'd call Jess.

Last time I was up there talking to him about my e-brake, among other things, he said that the lokar brake handle that the both of us are using on the K5's wouldn't hold. He had some people call telling him they wouldn't hold. That's when he gave me that brake handle off a forklift. It looks like the same brake handles that are on my military trailer too.

I can't remember, but I think he said the lokar was a 1:1 and the other was a 2:1. I'm not sure what the pedal is, but it's seems that it was/is the same as the lokar just reversed.

That's all I know about the subject. I know he is at the shop too, as he just left me a message. :waytogo:

Let us know what he says.
