Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

oh, and to clarify, these are a total custom dimension boxes.. height, width and depth... that's a critical factor in the build.. I'm guessing it will affect the price to some degree..

I'll do 2 with one simple partitioning setup, and the other 2 with a slightly different partition set up...

oh, work... :doah: the rail is pretty damn smooth... bs'd all afternoon about KM2's and such , but should have that stuff primed morrow..

Sometimes you gotta do that

I cant wait for this quote. I really hope its not completely bat **** lol :eek1:

Thanks again for the tires!

twas my demented tip o' the hat to "might as well"

I'm gonna call them today or morrow... I'm hoping they will be $500 or less each... I kinda figured for the 4 uppers, 2 g's, if it's more than that, i'll cry... hopefully getting basically 4 identical ones will help the cost a bit... I'd be very pleased if they come in at like 1500...

the lowers are a secondary thought at this point, I can always add them after the fact...

thanks... it was a coupe days work all told, but worth it.. looks way cleaner imo...

thanks guys... damn glad I got that done now, as opposed to trying to do it in the spring.. it's getting pretty heavy now, I figure it added about 100 lb's to it...... it's over 400 now I'd guess, maybe as much as 450..

just need to bang out the tubegate.. but I'm taking the day off from the Lab™ today.... just way cold to be trying to get it reasonably warm down there... supposed to be better tomorrow, so I'll be back at it.. besides I kinda deserve a day of hanging with the PS3, been banging a ton of work out on Mutt the last couple months...

hopefully by the end of next week I can get to the spare tire holder and be banging on the 1.5 tube..

next big expenditure will be getting the alum, and start fitting those panels, get the panel mounts welded up, etc..

I'm always interested in how people plan their projects. Do you have a point in which you'll say "ok, i'm done with this project now... i need to get back on the K5"? If so, what is that point?

I myself have two or three vehicle projects going on, along with multiple gun builds, house renovations, etc, etc. I find that I need to have a start and stop point with my vehicles to keep me motivated. I'm not saying that vehicle X has to be completely done before I work vehicle Y... but I have a specific "stages" that I need to finish before my attention goes to the next thing.

obviously wanting to do a Cummins at some point put's "done" eleventy yr's from now.. :haha:

but, the plan is to stop after regearing the front next fall for awhile, so I can get back to the K5 come nov/dec.... so I'll get the tubebed pretty finalized by sept hopefully.. last thing being the fuel tank prolly in aug... than put 4:88's up front before winter weather..

but maybe I'll be ahead of schedule and have it regeared by sept...

other than adding the lightbar at some convenient point down the road.. maybe the summer of 17 or when I do the cummins..

oh, and I may take a couple months at some point to do the whole backseat kennel deal when I actually get my dog...

how it looks with the tubegate done...
